| I don't think it was explicitly mentioned. Maybe Kurusu? It seems like he was aware of this virus long before the beginning of the manga (by him starting the cult). With his true form being an old man, he may have contracted a form of it when he was younger and was looking to find the 'Queen' this entire time. |
| Wasn't Kurusu a hikikomori, not an old man? The thing the connected all the Kurusu characters was that they all seemed to be virgins. In the case of I Am a Hero, I don't think it actually matters who patient zero is. It isn't a manga about exterminating or exploring the virus, but rather it portrays 'ordinary' characters within the extraordinary. The ZQN are pretty much a backdrop or inciting incident toward Hideo's character arc. |
