I don't understand why Giftia personalities break down after ~9 years.

It's been stated in Wikia that a Giftia's memories start to corrupt after failing to rewrite old information.

But the fact that humans could program such advanced androids and similar technologies make that confusing. In our modern day (irl), there are methods of repairing 'damaged' portions of data storage, or data as a whole. In such a futuristic world, where androids identical to humans even exist, there must be a way to repair save data that might accumulate damage over time.

It's because Giftia is a business, and like any other product, they must have an established useful life, otherwise they would not be viable from a commercial point of view. This is commonly known as planned obsolescence and is very common to see in real life.

In other words, probably they can repair the giftia or make them immortal, but that doesn't serve to sell more.

Then, something of a monthly recurring payment could occur instead. You'd essentially get equivalent profit.

Or, you can order a new Giftia, but have the data transferred over to the new body. It shouldn't be too much more difficult to transfer old data over to the new body.

Either way it doesn't make a lot of sense logically.

Mmm you are right, perhaps they were created with that limitation to establish a clear gap between a human and a giftia as well. But I don't know, maybe I'm just overthinking xd
