*mind blown* Coach Nanbu is actually the strongest!

Nanbu ran from far behind, appeared in front of Joe, gave Joe a counter punch to the gut, and Joe never wake up again. KO-ed ! :wow:

What the heck, I didn't expect them to do this route! How the heck are they going to finish this now? Great episode. I hope we get a movie sequel or something.
Nanbu pretty darn strong lol.

Joe got some fame because of his last fight against Aragaki and loved that fact.
I didn't know that fighter was Shirato's brother and their relationship is really interesting to see, I don't know where this is going but it will definitely be a great finale.

Until then, this anime was only "cool to watch," but that ending in episode 7 was literally a punch in the face! When I thought I was just going to have another complicated boundary bout, Joe is already out of the picture before he gets into the ring. I realized that this kind of obstacle really was what is missing to give tension to the show.

I can't wait for the next epsode!

I was worried something was bad going to happen when the episode start off with showing how popular JD become, and I was right, that his secret is going to leak out. God dammit I hate Mikiko, hopefully Jd is able to still box and get in the tournament.

Joe has his own theme song now lol. Damn though, I was hyped for that fight, but I felt like things were going a bit too well. I was wondering about it when they mentioned his fake ID. I'm sad now.

As of episode 7, this show takes place in a world we know nothing about, revolves around a sport we know nothing of, and the "major" twist was something that was sure to happen the moment they got fake IDs.

They've forsaken all necessary world-building and character-building, focussing purely on storytelling, which suffers heavlily from the lack of context.
This show started out promising, but is now nothing more than mediocre.

The moment I saw Joe getting recognition, I knew something and was going to happen. That woman's brother is such a hateable piece of shit.... First he challenges Joe and then he pressure's Joe into forfeiting. I hope Joe punches his face to a pulp.

I thought Joe was gonna be outed at some point, when I saw his Citizen Database ID on that monitor, but I didn't think it'd come out so soon
D: Pretty intense ending. Good development for their fight, which surely they are gonna fight... Don't tease me.

I was actually surprised when Nanbu just KO'd Joe with a single body blow. But then I watched the episode a second time and it hit me

1. Joe's pee seemed oddly discolored during that one scene. Almost reddish, like he was pissing blood

2. The poke and constant emphasis on the exact side of Joe's body Nanbu punched at the end

3. Nanbu constantly seemed bothered by something when he was talkign to Joe. In one scene where Joe says he's completely fine, Nanbu even casts his gaze downwards towards his midsection. And the night before the fight he still seemed to be troubled by something.

4. Right before they get to the ring, Nanbu was going to speak out about something before Sachio cut him off.

I think Nanbu knew that Joe wasn't in fightin form and was going to consider calling off the fight, regardless of what Mikio did. And he only managed to knock Joe out because of the reason he was going to call the fight. Joe's probably sustained serious damage to his liver that's going to need to be looked at. If he'd gone in the ring, a single body shot would have done more than just knocked him out. He might have straight up died from internal injuries.

They're doing a pretty darn good job of giving the supporting cast their own motivations for being a large part of the narrative.

Yes, Joe is out to prove he’s the real deal after years of throwing matches in the boxing underground. He’s a true underdog story, BUT he’s not the only character with real motivation to win. The Megalonia tournament has given purpose to Nanbu, who’s using it as a redemption run of sorts, that whiny kid has a of sense purpose now (I thought that little scene was a nice touch).

Aragaki had legitimate cause to want to fight and beat Joe. Mikio has his own motivation for wanting to win other than just being the champion. He wants to take down his sister and her prized fighter, Yuri, who is basically in this tournament for her as a means of showcasing their newest gear. Every major character right now has a legit reason to be there.

I could have lived without the final cruel twist of fate.

However, I can understand Mikio Shirato. He, too, has something to prove, despite his questionable methods.

On another note, Joe has become a meme.

i'm glad that finally something interesting happened. i was scared that Joe was just going to win against all the strong opponents through sheer willpower. i still cannot see how he can win against Yuri or Mikio for that matter without any gear. it's painfully obvious how much stronger Yuri is, i'll be upset if Joe wins because he gets a stereotypical last burst of energy and power through against Yuri and win

I guess this was a great episode for a great series. Its taking express train to be a great anime or a great train wreck (hopefully not).
I mean, i guess this anime tried not to bore us by simply doing what everyone else is doing by milking lots of character, or an in-deep lore and world building and focused on two points: raw fights and great narrative.
I got really excited that the director took this episode to shake people off. He is an underdog, and he must suffer to get to the point of redeem, and this is great!
I also noted that this episode fights felt a little bit off, i guess the animation team are focusing more in the important stuff than unlimited bud$$get on everything. but it keeps it presence up. I'm loving it.
Also, this is anime in roots, feels good man! Maybe a little too edgy? well, i just dig the awesome soundtrack that fits pretty well.

I honestly expected Joe to spring back up before the gates closed. I was surprised and honestly intrigued for the next episode when nothing of the sort happened.

It's left me wondering how everything's going to turn out for him, and what'll become of his Megalonia dream.

Talk about a plot twist! I wonder what happened between the Shirato siblings, and why Yukiko bets so hard on Joe.

The music has gotten better too, nice.

I also enjoyed the rap at the beginning.

Joe is becoming increasingly popular and he has some hot groupies. He can't get any action from them because according to Rocky's coach, Mickey Goldmill, "Women weaken legs!"

Mikio looks more of a bitch than his sister. He looks like he wouldn't even spit in your direction if you look like you make less than a million dollars a week.

Shit, Joe got fucked over. TT__TT

I hope Mikio's sister will fuck over her own brother by making Joe a citizen and choosing him for Megalonia again. My heart broke when Sachio cried! My poor ugly baby.

Even if her brother is from the Shirato Group, him winning Megalonia will mean that she won't become the president anymore and all the recognition will go to him instead so she went with his proposal that has him pitted against Gearless Joe. Little did she know that it was a trap for his opponent all along to make him forfeit the fight by threatening to snitch out his illegal background. He trained so hard and became even more powerful but Joe collapsed under the pressure of his dream falling into pieces.

It really sucks for him and I hope that Yukiko will do something to help him out from this inescapable situation. Anyone should be able to join, after all.

O. I totes thought Lady Boss would've gotten him an ID prepped and all. Welp. In the end, it's her decision, no? :P She can just reject her nii-san. But the public might not like that since Joe pretty much forfeited so it doesn't make sense :3 they still gotta have the match somehow

It's obvi it doesn't end here. Sachio shouldn't cry haha

That intro scene was fire with all that Gearless Joe fans and merchandise. Another great episode! I wonder what Yukiko's goals are, it definitely has something to do with gears, that's why she doesn't really like Gearless Joe, since Joe probably goes against what her goals are. But Joe was still useful to her though to beat her brother, though that backfired.

I knew Mikio had discovered Joe's fake ID when they showed his computer screen or something, damn it Mikio. How are they going to get out of this predicament, maybe Yukiko will do something about it hopefully.
