Just noticed no one had created a thread for this yet, I know its not "anime" but since its stop-motion animation and set in Japan, plus has gotten very good reviews (90% on Rotten Tomatoes), I thought I'd create a thread for the film that came out this week.

Loved all the attention to detail, I think it touched on some interesting social issues too.

"The individual has always had to struggle to keep from being overwhelmed by the tribe. If you try it, you will be lonely often, and sometimes frightened. But no price is too high to pay for the privilege of owning yourself."

Just watched it today. Overall the movie is really splendid for a fun and relaxing movie time. Besides if you're a dog lovers then this movie is for you. It touches your heart how realistic it possibly can be from the pet's perspective.

I'll score 8-9 out of 10.

While it wasn't as good as Anderson's previous animated movie, Fantastic Mr. Fox, I still found Isle of Dogs charming and a joy to sit through.

I think Isle of Dogs measured up to Fantastic Mr. Fox in different ways

Isle of Dogs was so visually well-done, the detail, backdrops, and character designs were interesting and fun. It was an explosion of creativity, and that percussion throughout the movie was just fucking great
Fantastic Mr. Fox had better character development, a more simple plot that goes along better with the frivolity of the claymation.

That said, I wasn't let down by this movie at all per usual of Anderson's work. I can't wait to see what other claymation projects he brings!! Something about the sheer intense labor that claymation projects require makes me just so much more into them

Never seen it but Fantastic Mr Fox is probably my favorite movie of all time.

I can't get into movies that much anymore though so I don't know when I'll ever get around to watching it.
