Which aspect of the anime do you value the most?
| I know a good anime requires many aspects of it to be good, but I'm just asking you which aspect of it do you value the most when you judge an anime, especially for those anime that you really like. Here're some things to consider before you cast your vote: (DON'T vote plot just because you like the story, think about the description of the category) Artstyle: (background design/character design/ general atmosphere/ color and shading) Characters: (main characters/ side characters/ villains/ character arc ,growth and backstory/ emotional investment in the characters) Animation: (detail and fluidity of action/ detail action that is symbolic/ fluid combat animation/ good camera angle and transition/ paneling/ dynamic or subtle/ originality) Plot: (good pacing/cohesive story-telling from start to finish/ logical in the context of the setting/ how intellectually the story is told/ proper buildup & climax & ending/ interesting twist/ respect audience's IQ/ emotional investment in the story/ originality) Music/ Voice acting: (general tracks/ background music/ how the music fit in the context of the scene/ how music improves the atmosphere and emotional buildup/ how voice acting fit the role of casts/ how voice acting improve the emotional buildup) Originality: (non generic, something new or different than the rest in the time era the anime was released/ different way of telling the story/ interesting premises ) - Example includes Ghost in the Shell |

| Characters. Their interactions, motivations and how well you can connect as well as emotionally invest into them. To be great you need a little of everything but imo characters matters the most to a compelling story. Plot and purpose/meaning is a close second. Sometimes a story without characters, more like a parable has it's merits to be good also, I think consider movies like tire or short anime films with little character development can still be good in this category while lacking good characters. |

| Characters and plot are 1 and 2. Characters slightly beat out plot though. Plot is great, but bland characters can make an phenomenal plot seem uninteresting. Similarly, great characters can make a show with a boring plot entertaining (barakamon) |

| Honestly, I'm not fond of when people use "it doesn't respect my/the audience's intelligence" as an argument as it presumes their rationale or perspective of certain plot elements is on par with the targeted average majority. |

What's most annoying is when a great show has great characters the first season, and in the next season they bring in some boring or annoying character. smh |
| Characters contribute most to the enjoyment for me. Pretty much all the other things can be shit and if the characters are excellent, then I'll still enjoy it. If done right, they create memorable events, execute comedic or badass moments, and bring out the fun. On the other hand, if you got annoying characters but everything else is good, I have a harder time enjoying the show. |

| Success. Not every anime is going for a major compelling plot, some anime simply use characters to push forward the plot while the focus is on the narrative. What I value is for the show to simply succeed at whatever it is it's trying to accomplish, cause I'll appreciate it for that if nothing else. |

| I could say something like plot for the anime itself, but ultimately, the soundtrack is what I value the most. I always listen to the soundtracks long after I've stopped watching an anime, and often like the music more than the actual show. Music is my life and anime soundtracks can be so captivating! |

| All of these are really important. However, you don't need a huge inventive plot to have a good anime. If you have bad characters, you have a bad anime in my book. A good or a bad character is subjective, but I think this is the most important component. That's why slice of like anime like Yuru Camp, which doesn't really have a "Plot" but, is still praised because of its characters. |

| First and formost characters they make the whole thing for me and the second is animation i honestly didn't care about the plot that much but it still matters. |

| So given that I mostly watch and have the highest average score for Slice of Life out of all genres, it should be characters. But it depends of course, in a plot-driven show, it's obviously the plot. |

| I guess it's mainly the plot. Usually, there isn't a full cast I can't handle. Mostly one. Sure, it can influence enjoyment, especially if they're main, but sometimes I just hate them as a stand-alone. I hardly notice all the rest. |
