There haven been a few new anime recently that I was interested in watching, but held them off until they were finished to start. I checked their scores recently and they're below 7, is it still worth watching them? Have any of you enjoyed anime (thought they were actually good, rather than just fun) that had a score of less than 7 on this website?

I like how some tries to deny 7+ ratings are "bad" and 7- are "good". Wannabe hipsters. It can be true, but that doesn't prove the fact one is better than the other. Anyway.

6 ratings are probably ratings from normies trying to watch underrated shows. This is where tastes mostly differ. Read the synopsis. If it interests you watch it.
5 ratings are probably only generally horrible. This is where eccentric people comes in. It can be good, but rarely
4 ratings are probably downright horrible. The people here have seen shit. It can be good but near-impossible

Probably, cuz yunno it maybe isn't objective..
People rate anime low or high from various reasons,
it is to relative and there are high chances you would actually love
anime with low score

Most hentai shows are scored below 7, and yet they are in most cases better than those anime rated above 7.

Like this wise person said, Mal scores are worth squat.

There are shit shows with >8.5, so it is safe to presure that there are great shows with score <7.

Most of the MAL scores aren't accurate, so don't always trust in them. So you should watch even if they have a score of 7 or below of that.

Mal Scores are usually nonsense because most people don't use the rating system properly so finding a semi popular show with a rating below 7 is rather hard. Also you shouldn't base what you watch on other people's opinion if the synopsis sounds interesting go watch it even it
F it had a shity score.

Series of shorts, standalone ovas, old obscure stuff, and the likes are usually watched by people with lower averages and such.. Some genres also seem to be rated higher or lower almost by default

If the series you're thinking of watching is some recent seasonal light novel adaptation with colorful girls then maybe watching it is not a good idea. But if it's one of the categories i mentioned above, and/or you feel like you're particularly interested in the topics presented by the anime more than the average watcher, than maybe it's worth a try.

In particular i enjoyed many anime sub 7... akuma no riddle, anime de wakaru shinryounaika, aquarion logos, candy boy, centaur no nayami and thats just from the first 3 letters of the alphabet

The scores are based on what rating people give and different people have different interests. So you should watch an anime if you find it's story interesting.

As everyone here has succinctly stated... The scoring system is definitely BS. :P

MAL scores are subjective. If you liked the trailer and synopsis go for it. I have founded pretty good shows scored below 7 and even below 6, so after all it's up to your personal preference, not the score.

Attack on Titan
Gintama

My hero academia
Code Geass

Only scrubs think that anything below 7 is bad or that MAL score even means anything.
I'm watching anime since 2012. I also play games, sometimes.

Don't bother me if you want to 'become friends' or things like that.
It's tiresome. I know you just want to collect some meaningless numbers.

Never trust what others tell you. (100% at least) give them a shot yourself if they seem interesting and judge on your own.
I would have missed so many anime i liked if i listened to a friend that kept telling me they were "shit".

Yes because the scores mean nothing. I'm glad I didn't let the rating of In another world with my smartphone deter me from watching it cause I thought it was funny and entertaining

If its something unpopular the score is much less accurate than in case of popular anime, so I wouldnt care about it. I enjoyed (and yes, considered them good) plenty of shows like that. But in case of popular anime (like in the top 1000) maybe just check the reviews to see what others disliked about it.

MAL scores are absurd and don't matter much.
So, if a show with a score less than 7 interests you, don't hesitate from trying it...

So many "MAL scores doesn't matter".

But yeah, you can watch stuff below 7. If you want to save your time just don't watch shit below 6.

My good advice:
Don't look at scores ever again. Look at poster tags and studio. It's all you need to find interesting things.

No, the correct thing would be to be superficial enough to be influenced by the MAL score.

Try with anyone with something that matches your taste and your next doubt will be, why exist the underestimation?

If it's Netsuzou TRap or Sin: Nanatsu no Taizai yeah.

I haven't seen them yet but I know they're made of concepts and visuals that appeal to me because I research everything I plan to watch.

Anything's worth watching, but for different reasons.

Anything below a 7 usually lacks in one or more major categories when we score it, but that doesn't mean that they're terrible. There are plenty of series I've watched under 6 where I can find at least one thing I like. Usually, though, I watch these kind of like why film directors watch The Room . Ya know, to know what's not part of a good anime.

Yes, that is why I watch everything each season and find really good or at least decent shows from the rough. I'd say you should watch the mainstream ones first and get rid of the mentality of that shows with low scores are bad. You shouldn't base your opinion on the general concensus, you'll find it easier to enjoy everything and judge it fairly unlike a lot of people.
