A teaser website for Nio Nakatani's Yagate Kimi ni Naru (Bloom Into You) manga has launched and announced a TV anime adaptation on Friday. The anime, commemorating the series' third anniversary, is slated for this fall.

Synopsis
Yuu has always loved shoujo manga and awaits the day she gets a love confession that sends her heart aflutter with bubbles and blushes, and yet when a junior high classmate confesses his feelings to her...she feels nothing. Disappointed and confused, Yuu enters high school still unsure how to respond. That's when Yuu sees the beautiful student council president Nanami turn down a suitor with such maturity that she's inspired to ask her for help. But when the next person to confess to Yuu is Nanami herself. Has her shoujo romance finally begun? (Source: Seven Seas Entertainment)

Staff
Director: Makoto Katou (Sakurako-san no Ashimoto ni wa Shitai ga Umatteiru)
Series Composition, Script: Jukki Hanada (No Game No Life series composition)
Character Design: Hiroaki Gouda (the Amagami SS series)
Studio: TROYCA

Nakatani launched the yuri manga in monthly Dengeki Daioh magazine as her debut work in April 2015. Kadokawa published the fifth volume on January 5. The series placed fourth in Niconico and Da Vinci Magazine's third Tsugi ni Kuru Manga awards last August. Yagate Kimi ni Naru has a cumulative 500,000 copies of its compiled volumes in circulation.

Seven Seas Entertainment licensed the manga in North America last January and published the fourth volume on February 20.

They always manage to make shoujo ai sound so appealing, but I won't get my hopes up, I don't remember the last time a shoujo ai anime worked...

So happy they got Jukki Hanada on it. He's probably the guy you want on a show centered around intimate interactions between girls. Hope he can put his KyoAni & A place further than the universe experience into good use.

so whats up with the recent yuri wave?
Mirai Nikki is TRASH
Angel Beats is horrible.
Charlotte is a dumpster fire.
Shinsekai Yori has no characters.
Oreimo's S2 specials don't actually exist.

IM NOT AN ELITIST

I live to see the day where Hidamari Sketch or Little Witch Academia get another season.

This better not turn up the same way Citrus did. I really want to see a good yuri/shoujo ai for once.

I am not into Shoujo Ai but this one is really cute. And it's nothing crappy like Citrus and Netsuzou TRap which are closet BL manga with female characters.

I think it's interesting to note that TROYCA is the studio working on this. They're expanding their work with all different genres now. (I was not expecting TROYCA to be the studio)

Hell yes!
We are finally getting a true yuri anime that isn't melodramatic or a cringefest. Compared to Citrus, this one is actually great. I'm so hyped for this.

I never post on these forums, but this series caused me realize this site still uses the tag and term 'shoujo ai'. I don't think that means what you think it means(google it). Most publishers have updated to just using 'yuri' or 'GL' for sfw series.

Excited for the anime though, I hope its a solid production.

I actually had this on my PTR list for a while. I may go and give the manga a try.

But hey, the staff looks pretty nice and the selection is good so.

@Sliusarek The actual story is FAR from anything like that. If there's something you need to know about this series, is that it's one of, if not the most highly acclaimed manga in the yuri genre and all of us yuri fans have been waiting for this moment. It's one of the very few yuri series that are actually good and isn't some cringefest or too melodramatic.

i'm glad more yuri manga is getting noticed lately, i've been reading this manga since more than two years ago but i didn't know it was actually that popular. i hope other great yuri manga gets the same attention.

edit: the anime cover is indeed looks strange compared to the manga's art, i hope they won't divert that much from the manga's art.

A very strange choice of the studio, since these people are known for the gloomy thrillers with many CG and never did any romantic anime, but for some reason I believe that they will succeed. Especially with such a screenwriter.

Not melodramatic yuri it's like mecha without pathos.

If you care about Western terminology, then this is shoujo ai. But technically, the Japanese know only the term yuri.

Wrong. No one in the west who cares about the genre calls it shoujo ai. We use yuri for everything from hand-holding to sex. Shoujo ai as a substitute for yuri or as "light yuri" is horribly outdated.

However, even MAL and most of the manga resource still uses this tag for most mainstream yuri. I have not read this work and I do not know if there are scenes of sex there, but I personally write yuri because of the brevity and recognizability of the term.

Yeah, they're outdated. Not like it's the only thing about MAL's database that's outdated, either.

I did not think much about it. In any case, it's not fatal for me if someone writes shoujo ai, not yuri.

It might not be fatal, but if you told any japanese person you were into "shoujo ai" you'd find yourself in a jail cell fairly quickly.

I would not say this to the Japanese person, because above I myself already wrote that for the Japanese this term does not exist, lol.
