Damn. J.C Staff sure is taking on a lot of projects. I hope they aren't biting off more than they can chew. I really want OPM S2 and Grand Blue to be good.

They are. That's why OPM S2 is being delayed to oblivion. It's already been almost 2 years since the sequel was confirmed. Also don't forget about Index S3, if they half ass it with sub par animation i will be so pissed.

Never got into Index, but I can understand the possible frustration considering how long it's taken to get S3. To wait so long only to be let down would suck for sure.

Grand Blue isn't done by J.C. Staff, but by Zero-G, if I remember correctly.

@Hatsuyuki
original source doesn't even finishing monter asociation + garou saga yet.. what would they adapt? surpassing original source? very unlikely... i think that's the main reason rather than JC Staff it self... they used to do 3 consecutive series in a season and all of them is visually not bad.... also gran blue is by zero-G...

I know JC Staff for Saiki K and Shokugeki and both of them are great. maybe its the source material but I think JC staff can handle stuff well. now, as some other member said, they sure are taking a lot of projects... hopefully they dont bite more than they can chew

also, at least its not Studio Pierrot.

Pierrot don't pick projects like that either way by the committee or by themselves either way

They clearly wont adapt all of that arc. With this pacing, S2 would be feasible by 2020...

What is the manga actually like? Gender reassignment surgery is no joke, so I already know this show will get lambasted for "going too far" once the Summer season approaches and more people start learning about it. So does it handle it well and is it funny enough to justify it?

So the manga is basically about three yakuza failed the assignment, they either have to do harakiri or change their gender to Thailand and become idol to produce money. They become so cute and popular, they regret it. Despite being a woman, their personalities pretty much didn't change and it's played for laugh. The boss himself is a cruel person that force our three main character through spartan and survival training.
And yes, it's actually funny enough to justify it.

first season can be rushed because lot of weekly monsters and visual porn... murata ever drawn a chapter simply metal knight fly or the place where saitama in borors ship, or the spinning sonic... you had to be joking if you think they can pull it again... also that kind of ending is extreamly unsatisfying...

I read the manga and thought it was pretty funny for its worth though it's not for everybody obviously. Its humor is such that a lot of people might not faze well into it. It's similar to the prison school style of comedy in a way, making things crueler and worse off for our main cast for cheap laughs. I think working with J.C. Staff who produced the prison school anime is a good choice in that. The only thing I'm worried about is the pacing since there really isn't too much they could feasibly cover in this season. Hopefully they don't overstep their boundaries.
