| I recently finished watching Hunter x Hunter and I have to say that I didn't like the Chimera Ant arc. I was just curious if there is such a thing as the worst anime story arc? |

| Ignoring the excessive length and the annoying narration, the chimera ant arc is not bad on itself, it becomes bad when joined with the rest of the HxH storyline, because it has absolutely nothing to do with it, and creates a very annoying sense of discontinuity. I just kept asking myself the whole time while watching it: (i) What do Gon and Killua have to do with this insect invasion, why are they involved in this in the first place? and (ii) Why am I supposed to care about this? Other bad arcs I recall would be the Golden Frieza, Black Goku and Tournament of Power arcs in DBS, Super C17 and Evil Dragons in DBGT, and because I've watched it recently; Fuko arc in Clannad, holy shit what an stupidity. |

I agree with Glenfinnan that it didn't have much to do with the rest of Hunter x Hunter. The only real excitement in that arc for me was with Gon and Killua's interaction with Neferpitou. Also, I would have liked to see more of Leorio and Kurapika. I'd still love to see more of it, if it ever comes. |

| Sort of copy paste here since I prefer not to remember the bad moments :p Chimera arc made me unable to keep going. Children arc in log horizon 2nd season. Honestly this should be a spin off, just like Kaleid Prisma Ilya. Bount arc. I was able to bear with it due to how hyped Bleach was back then. Honorable mention would be Naruto. They could compile and create an arc called nostalgia arc. If they produce an exclusive Naruto marathon BD limited editions without recycling flashback scenes the rating would be higher for naruto here on MAL. |

| Chimera ants arc is one of the best anime arcs ever, I don't know why would you choose it as an example, anyway, I hated fishman's island arc in one piece, and any filler arc in the big three that I was stupid enough to watch |

Interesting thought. The Chimera Ant arc was probably the best arc in the series for me. Why didn't you like it? Any filler arc in a long series is usually terrible. And if you count SAO's 2 arcs, then that too. I think I would have been able to enjoy it more had it been shorter. The biggest thing that bugged me was how OP the ants were from the offset. It just doesn't feel right that an opponent can have more power than most characters we have already seen in the anime so far without having trained for those combat abilities. |
