What do you feel about Chinese studios in the industry?

So far with some series being from China studios entering here, it shows how big the industry has gotten. So proud of that. So what do you all think about it.
P.S. the only problem that I had was that the subtitles are just plain kanji instead of the other writings.

If it's good, why should we turn it away? The King's Avatar is a great anime, and loved by many, it was also made by Chinese people.

This.

I have the same standards regardless of country of origin.

I still find it odd that people use this as slang for anime, because of the geopolitical history between China and Japan.

As a Chinese myself, I personally think there's still a huge room for improvement...
Especially Tencent Animation...

Most people don't even know there's a difference between the two even if that history is present. People just don't care or are simply oblivious towards it.

On topic: I haven't seen any Chinese anime yet so I don't know what to think about it. I sure hope they're good but when I finally decide to watch one I'll let the anime speak for itself.

When it comes to animation quality, Chinese animation is inferior, even a crappy Japanese studio like Toei Animation is better in my opinion. You often see reused cutscenes, recycled frames, and inconsistency.

Quanzhi Fashi and Gin no Guardian are examples of poor work. However, The King's Avatar is good.

I would have thought it might be obvious given even a quick study of who was on which side in the Second World War, but on second thought (no pun intended), I guess the context of the larger Second Sino-Japanese War, including such atrocities as the Nanking Massacre, isn't as obvious.

I think it's a good thing, more creative and talented people are entering the industry and The Kings Avatar is an example of that.

Most likely this. Still need improvement on CGs, but hey, even a lot of Japanese Anime still need improvement on that point. Lol XD

I seriously need to stop watching idol anime... The fact that I can't afford to buy their CDs yet keep making my heart broken..

Well, yeah, I know, except it's not a meme to U.S. American TV shows "British programmes", so that's why I think it's just a matter of geographic otherness making ideas of distant lands run together.

Not really a huge problem, but just something a bit more oddly conspicuous to me since I grew up learning about some of this stuff myself.

Almost all their anime are shit. Only one that I liked is Chu Feng: B.E.E which has only 6 episodes without complete adaptation

yeah because the appeal is that it is slightly (or moderately, depending on someones take on dark humor) offensive to group all asians together under china. saying american shows are british is not even 0.001% offensive, so it gets no gas.
if you had a police line-up of native americans and told people to identify each tribe, most would have a hard time, yet no one says "all natives look alike" because native-americans are already obscure (only 3 mil in us; less than some foreign ethnic groups) so you aren't offending a whole lot of people saying that; ergo it is less funny. of course all comedy is subjective, but some people like darker humor to be pretty degrading.

Only Chinese anime I've seen is King's Avatar, the animation quality is also really good, only prob is that its a little too good that they have to recycle action sequences since it costs a lot of money to produce them.

most of them are rated below 7 or 6. Imagine all the stuff people complain about ecchi and action and multiply it by 5.

Most of their stuff is pretty bad, but they've made a few gems. I feel like they need to work on fostering talent.

They're usually really cheap studios that lack a lot of basics about the job.

Shiyan Pin Jiating is one of the latest anime from a chinese studio, and it lacks a lot of basics about design inconsistency and how to manage frames. Like I said in the discussion for episode 1, there was a scene that was like 15 seconds and 3-4 frames of animation.

It wasn't really a sight to behold.
Talk about character development? I started liking beer.

Well, there's some great stuff among the 6'es and 7's and I don't care about the complaining. If anything it makes me even more curious.

Wasn't trying to stop you, but some are only rated above 8 because they were a better SAO. Which in my opinion you just rated the show only to piss off fans of another show. Although would recommend the show fox spirit matchmaker.

I still haven't seen Chinese anime but I think it is a good thing. I like the idea of different cultures making more and more their animation. It means that we might see some new ideas, stories, settings, art styles, etc. I don't expect that they will make great things immediately but in time, as they get experience and more talent comes into their industry, masterpieces surely will appear.

I don't have a problem with it as long as they produce quality stuff. And yes, quality has been inconsistent lately but they are just starting out. I'm reserving final judgement for when they have had a chance to find their footing.

Personal Note: Funny how Netflix gets a warm reaction but China gets vitriol.
