| we need less anime fans I feel like the concept of an anime fandom shouldn't exist to begin with and that we should all just break off into separate entities with the fact that we're liking Japanese animation being the only real center in an actual capacity. Right now the whole thing feels like how music works - people like rap, people like rock, so on and so forth, every genre - except unlike with music we're all being put under the same roof and being forced to live together rather than just being able to exist as our own fanbases who can more easily approach the type of products that they center around. Y'know, just have your ecchifags, your oldfags, your arthousefags, your shounenfags, so on and so forth, everything just disperse and completely slaughter the concept of a united fandom and instead function as a bunch of separate fandoms. I really do feel like that's the only way to cure the sense of tribalism and competing for consumer appeal that he seems to really highlight as a thing in this video.
