How do you treat an anime with these kinds of character designs as seriously as Berserk? Tokyo Ghoul? Or any other dark anime? Why do people like Gigguk knack Akame ga Kill, an insanely dark series, for having incredibly ridiculous character designs that contrast the tone, but not Fate? |

| And why wouldn't they take it seriously? Most of the fate entries are not comedy or even 'goofy' enough to warrant treating it as such. I don't see how colourful designs matter at all in here, are you saying having shit boring designs with horrible colour palette like Texhnolyze is in any way better? That's not how you achieve a serious atmosphere. Utena is incredibly colourful and I have yet to see anyone saying it's not serious, and the same can be said about hundreds of anime out there. I have yet to play the visual novel, but honestly, I doubt it's in any meaningful way different. The anime has a serious and likeable cast, unique setting and does deal with some dark stuff. There is enough reasons to take it seriously, no matter how many retarded, idiotic meme lords scream about it being a porn game adaptation. Hercules isn't even black so the random bullshit about it being a racist representation is ridiculuos. |

| While I pretty much agree, most of the stuff you pointed out is not from the VNs. Everything outside the VNs (and Zero) was written by the first person grabbed off the street, provided they were capable of writing a full sentence. As such, most of Fate is just shit writing. As for the sex scenes, well, most VNs are porn games, apparently because (read it somewhere, don't quote me on it) it's much easier to find a publisher for those. Porn sells. (I also hate how they're genderswapping half the characters. It worked with Saber once, so now every spinoff writer wants three of those). |
