Based on popular request, MAL Rewrite is bringing a Creative Corner to the newsletter!

Please send your submissions to this awesome Google Form:

Creative Content Submissions

We recognize that we're not just Rewriters writing brilliant synopses, but also a group of creative people. This section aims to uncover all the hidden writers, photographers, sketchers, filmmakers, and cosplayers among us!

Submissions can include, but not limited to:

  1. Short stories
  2. Opinion/Think pieces
  3. Artwork
  4. Photography
  5. Film/Animation/Anime music videos
  6. Music

We welcome experimental content. For instance, if you have a story told in the form of a recipe or a series of tweets/texts, send it in! We'd love to read it.

Your content does not necessarily have to be related to anime/manga. We do not accept erotica/pornographic material. There are no genre restrictions otherwise.

Please don't be shy! Even if you may think your talent is nothing special, there are lots of people out there who can't do it! Take origami. It's just folding paper. But maybe you are really good at it and can fold some neat shapes. That's talent! Even if you're just starting out and finding your talent, we would love to see your progress!! As they say, the journey is sometimes more important than the destination.

While we encourage all submissions, there are certain ground rules that must be set:

  1. Writing pieces SHOULD NOT EXCEED 1000 WORDS. (However, if you have a longer piece that shows promise, we could discuss serializing it.)
  2. No explicit material or offensive themes (e.g. porn, sexual themes, extremism).
  3. Certain language may be appropriate if it is part of the work. An inappropriate example is a rant containing racial slurs. A more appropriate example (albeit, still sensitive) would be racial slurs targeted at an oppressed character in the artistic work, driving home the point of racism.
  4. Please send a maximum of ONE written piece (fiction/essay) OR THREE photos/illustrations OR TWO videos OR TWO music pieces.

The coordinators will review your submissions and it is at our discretion if we deem the material as okay according to the rules. If you ever have any doubts, feel free to reach out to one of the coordinators or comment below. I'm sure, however, that we will approve all submissions. :)
