my opinion-
gonna sound like a rant but...whatever..

seriously..why create a romance story if your not gonna show at least one clear kiss scene?
especially when you put your work on seinen/josei category and you want to satisfy us with holding hands?why? im not asking for sex...i know most of the mangaka/authors are pussy enough not to put sex scenes anyway i got hentai for that so its ok.

but a kiss...just a tiny miny kiss...its feels so incomplete without it,i know its all fictional nothing is real but still when the characters that your so emotionally attached to seeing them going through various ups and down relating them to you,you want to see them feel good so you can feel good yourself.

i know there are some serious love stories or love stories revolving around very young children so kiss scenes are not added(thought let me say in most of the manga which ive read revolving around young couple, there are kisses in them),even in a lot hard ecchi series kiss scenes are not included cuz there is already so much ecchiness that you dont really need kiss scene but, there are still, still some series which genuinely need kiss scenes.

read tokyo ghoul re damit...my god sui ishida, what a daredevil he is..i worship this man.Learn a thing or two from him for fucks sake.

so thats all was my opinion cum rant, you dont really have to agree with me.

whats your notion regarding 'romance without kiss'?

Edit/Solution - wanna watch the mc fucking which ever girl you shipped him to? Wait no further and check out that series doujins hentai which is like fanfiction animated porn in the form of manga. i recommend n-hentai website.

No need to kill yourself if the supposedly "romance" manga does not even have FUCKING KISSING scene, just check out its hentai version. ;p

Though be sure not to abuse this feature otherwise you might suffer what i described in this thread.

It's slightly disappointing, but it doesn't really bother me as long as the characters have confessed their feelings to each other. What actually annoys me, are stories that pretend to be romantic, but no confession ever takes place and it also annoys me that people confuse infatuation with romance. This is why I never take the romance tag seriously.

I haven't seen the other ones, but this is wrong. Kousei and Kaori never confess their feelings to each other so it isn't a romance show. In order for something to be actual romance, characters must directly tell or show (via physical contact) that they are attracted to the other person. So characters that are infatuated with each other, but only ever blush when looking at each other is NOT romance. Yes, this triggers me.

You know what triggers me even more?
When the characters confess their feelings about each other RIGHT AT THE END OF THE SERIES AND THEN SHOW ONLY VERY LITTLE OR NOTHING AT ALL OF THEIR RELATIONSHIP!
Like "you watched the whole series? Here is your reward" and thus treats the fans as retards and only uses the possibility of romance just to keep them hooked.
Plus then there is the all for nothing issue.

That kind of attitude just shows that only the falling in love part is interesting and nothing will happen afterwards which is just so god dam WRONG!!!!!!
The interesting stuff happens WHEN YOU ARE IN A RELATIONSHIP
And there are still hurdles to overcome as a couple!
Heck Falling in love is actually THE EASIEST PART!

Just look at Vegeta and Bulma for a good example.
Vegeta Developped as a character because of his relationship with Bulma.
You could say that Bulma Tamed Vegeta and transformed him from a proud Sayan to a proud Family man. And that led to him doing his first selfless action.
So even The shounen posterboy DBZ showed that characters can also develop in Relationship.

I must thank you for saving me from ranting myself on this. Took words right out of my mouth. And it's sad to see all the examples which do it right doesn't even come from romance animes. Well, I think it's just a pipe dream for this to change unfortunately.

Tbh I don't care if there is a kiss or sex scene

All I care about in a romance anime is that the main couple have a good chemistry
and enough cute moments together

What ruin romance for me when the couple is unlikable ,also harem/love triangle

If it's the main plot of the story, I suppose.

If it's a subplot, I don't care about a kiss scene.

I care more, for instance, about episodes being wasted on trying to confess only to get interrupted by something and then rinse and repeat. It's tiring.

True, it's damn frustrating seeing them get blushy/flustered just by brushing hands and eye contacts.
I'm fine as long as they confess early and actually build a relationship, have those love conversations and stuff.
Kissing and above are just icing on the cake for me.πŸ˜„
I hate majority of shoujo romances due to the behavior shown by characters and the way they end on confessions and maybe a kiss.

I completely agree with you. Whats even worst is after you've watched all 11 episodes and someone asks the girl or guy if they like a certain someone THEY GIVE THE VAGUEST AND CRAPPY ANSWER like "I..don't know" or "I guess I don't dislike him" and then BAM. Black screen and the crappy ending starts playing.

I'm the opposite.

I prefer romance Anime without kiss scenes, and seeing two people of the opposite sex kissing grosses me out.

On the other hand, if it's Shounen-ai, then kissing is okay.

Ahaha, I can see why people would get triggered by that. Though I still consider that better than no confession at all if the show pretends to be a romance anime. What happens after the characters have already become a couple needs to be shown more often because it opens up the possibility for more drama, which I find interesting. What I also like to see more often, are characters that aren't dense or afraid to confess. Golden Time is a good example of a romance show that does it right.

Totally somewhat agree. There are some exceptions like Clannad or the Monogatari series, but generally speaking, I find it somewhat annoying whenever there isn't some sort of scene like that

It's even worse when the story goes the harem route and doesn't even have a couple at the end

Your Lie In April didn't have a kiss. But, I still enjoyed that series as it was more of a character drama than a romance. It was about the death and rebirth of Kousei as a pianist. Kaori served as his catalyst.

I'd say romances without kisses don't necessarily make the romance of the show pointless nor make the show bad in general, it's just that the shows that resort to it tend to be the anime that try to drag on the story, plot and 'plot' as long as possible, as the kiss often signifies the end of many romance anime due to the existence of love rivals etc.

Emphasis on tend, for example as many have said Your Lie in April never has the intent for the story to drag on endlessly, is a full and complete story, so despite the lack of a kiss, it's a gratifying anime.

Actually you made me think about the romance anime I've watched, and if that includes the popular movies Kimi no Na wa and Koe no katachi, then yes, I've watched romance anime without kiss scenes. But anyway, mostly in ecchi anime there are kiss scenes. And I guess if an anime focuses on romance, it should have at least a kiss or something, but I don't mind since romance is far from my favorite genres.

I dont know man but it sure as hell pisses me the F off. I mean, 24 episodes of Kimi ni todoke and not a single kiss! That doesnt even make sense! How the fuck does that happend!?
Maybe its a cultural thing, i dont know, but for now thats the best explanation i can think of.

A romance series without a kiss is like a shounen without an epic final battle. Imagine a shounen were the antaganist just dies of cancer and the world goes back to normal.

Is that so? If anything, ecchi anime have fewer kiss scenes in them than regular romance anime. Like OP said, the main premise is the fanservice aspect so they rarely include kissing scenes. Even the ones that do, half the time it's more of a 'joking' kiss as opposed to what OP wants with more of a 'romantic' kiss

Kisses are just a way to express love physically, they are nice but are not necessary when the couple has good chemistry. I still like them though.

I forgot that neither of those films had kissing scenes. Neither films were hurt by the lack of a kiss.

Baby Driver wasn't a straight up romantic film. But, there was a romance in the film that was a driving force in the plot. I don't think that the lead and his love interest kissed until the very end. I actually kinda liked that as they werent just all over each other and it was more innocent.

Real love is when you can touch someone without touching them. Kissing is nice to have and I prefer it. But, if the romance works then it doesn't need it to make it's point.

I'd be lying if I said I wasn't bothered with no kiss scene in romance animes. But at the same time, I don't particularly mind as long as they AT LEAST have a confession and become a couple. By the end of the series or not. But even couples who have confessed and became a couple have ways to annoy or piss me off...

Help, I'm hooked into the Fate series (not all) and am obsessed with Shirou x Saber!
Also, forever hoping for a ufotable remake of the Fate route!

Both the highly rated anime series and movie for bunny girl senpai didn't have a romantic kiss scene. There were comedic pecks on cheeks but for a romance story with a couple central to its core to not have a single kiss scene, that has me agreeing with the OP no clue why it's missing.
