I don't even know how this site works as I've never put effort into exploring it, maybe some of those already exists, but without putting much thought: Overall improvements: Advertising - Make it possible for people to advertise anime related products, for a small fee. Not sure how it should be implemented, maybe using some sort of online store and having space for extra exposition at the user profile. But definitely not with ads everywhere. Virtual cash - Also implementing virtual money that you can earn by adding interesting content to the site. Would be possible to spend it with in-site benefits (Such as waifu and husbando list, maybe an OC list), or even the store depending how it goes. New partnerships - Look for partnership with anime inspired webcomic authors, in a way that's profitable for both sides. ( Overall, I guess I'd try to make the site less japanese industry focused, and give space for western anime-related content/product creators. ) Social: Groups - I'm not really sure how to improve it, but they're quite lame. It needs some study, but I would at least trying to redesign them into a more user friendly look. Profile - Make it possible to post and share stuff. It's not very original but most people like it. It would also make the "friends" feature more relevant. Interaction - AI to suggest you people with similar tastes/ high affinity. Anime: Characters - Make it possible to see who else have favourited a character. Cosplay - Maybe add a cosplay section, who knows. |

| I would get rid of the ability to restrict Anime and Manga lists. I would add the ability to send a notification to everyone on your friends list at once. I wouldn't allow alt accounts under any circumstances. I would add the ability to see everyone who has a(n) Anime, Manga, Character, or Person in their favorites. I would allow users to have full moderation power over their threads in Forum Games. |

And of course few trivial things such as firing the mods and hiring people that I trust (Edit: nothing personal just business), removing rule 6, adding more femdom manga to the database, etc. Yes, and I'll make MAL Supporter great again, by the end of 2018, almost half of the MAL users will have a monthly subscription. I'll add extra features, different language options, better forums/discussions, there will be updates on everything every 12 hours and most importantly make Mexico pay for it all. I don't see a reason to delay my victory much longer, will you surrender MAL to me or we have to wait until the elections? Either way, most people here already love me. They need a strong leader to turn their beloved website into the paradise we deserve. |

| Remove the character limit and add non-japanese anime like The Last Airbender and Martin Mystery. Then make a MyVideoGameList and a MyMovieList because that would be convenient imo. |
| I'd probably make the lists more interactive. I'd think on it more, but I'd probably kinda do like a badge system for the lists specifically, but it wouldn't be a badge but a little character instead that changes as you watch more anime. The character wouldn't be fully customizable or anything, but you'd be able to kinda choose between a certain group or maybe you unlock certain types the more you watch. I dunno where I'd have those characters though. Maybe profile pages where the badges seem to be going or like next to user avatars on the forums. They'd be really small like sprites probably. It'd just be a bummer if people abused the system by just making it seem like they watched more anime than they actually have just to get the characters that require more anime being watched. Maybe to combat that, it'd be like a point system instead, so even if you reach a certain point, you wouldn't be getting ALL the characters of a certain level, but only the ones you have enough points for which have been gained through watching anime. And then, maybe like with Gaia Online, I'd have a "tip this post" type of thing which gives you extra points-- which also makes it so other users can contribute. Or hey, maybe I wouldn't award points through anime-watching at all and I'd just make all the points a community gained thing. Then you could maybe even gain more through contests and such (either site hosted or through the community). BUT THEN, I'd make little comics about said characters and such who would essentially be serving as the site's mascots and sell some merch with them. Or hey, you really want that character? You can buy some points too. I would want to make sure that there would be plenty of opportunities to gain points though, so maybe I'd partner up with some companies and be like, "Yo! If you complete x anime/manga (licensed by blahblahblah) within this month, then you'll get y amount of points. Eyy!" Though, people could just SAY they watched/read it, but the point is also that this anime/manga is getting exposure. Maybe to combat that too, users might have to comment or-- heck, maybe the partners will let us do a streaming event of one of the episodes of whatever anime, and any users at the event will get their points. Then maybe those partners can give me a little something somethin' for promoting their stuff. Maybe just like one copy of the anime they want me to promote so I can give it to a contest winner or something. OR I'd save it all up and give them away as prizes at anime cons or something if MAL were to table someplace (or just tell my partners to fork over some things we can use as prizes while at the con instead of saving it all up, depends on the agreements). I would love to have a section for webtoons/webcomics or maybe even animation and comics from other countries-- there are so many works out there from all around that appeal to the demographic on MAL after all. I think that would end up being a mess, however, so I'd leave that out... BUT I'd love to open up a little paintchat for MAL-- though it'd probably be hard to manage since I already know folks would troll. But maybe it would be a thing where you'd have to be accepted by a mod or something before you can go in. Otherwise, we'd have trolls drawing over people's art and stuff, and that's no fun. I'd have to keep thinking about that one... BUT I do think it'd be nice to encourage more creative works on MAL somehow! It's hard, because being a creative person isn't really the focus of this site, so it'd be really hard to justify. Still, I think even if it's like a monthly art jam type of thing then it'd be fun to encourage that type of thing. And then if there's that point system, you could get points by just participating in it or something. Uh, I wouldn't want a whole bunch of troll art though, so maybe like there'd be some type of thumbs up system, and if you got at least ten thumbs up then you'd get the points-- or maybe you get as many points as you get thumbs up. And no one is limited in the amount of users they can give thumbs up to. Also, if there was a point system, I'm sure folks who like to do art would rack up points for that anyway through the tipping of posts if people are courteous, but I'd maybe try to make it so people can't set a price? I don't want like a monopoly going on maybe. I mean, not that artists would be the only ones who could get tipped points. I just feel like I'd have to either encourage everyone to do it some way somehow or limit it. I dunno. But really, that would give some things about MAL a lot more purpose too. Like hey, in this world, the store would be selling points and merch, there is more reason to interact with the community, partnerships are a bit more equal kinda, and like... people are motivated to hustle for points maybe?? And then, if you really just care about your lists, you can still JUST do your lists and NOT COMPLAIN about anything else going on the community which has nothing to do with dev work. Anyway, maybe it sounds a little too much like Gaia Online, ha hah.;; Actually, I'm thinking more along the lines of plug dj where there were avatars to obtain with points. The only thing is, I think I'd just have to keep making characters, because if someone just gets them all, then what? What more is there to achieve, right? It feels like it's collecting dolls, lol. |
