One of the worst dubs ever made. Dub fans like to bitch about Goku's JPN voice since he sounds the same as he did as a child, but the thing is...he's literally just a big child.

I would recommend dub. Im not a diehard proponent of dubs (in fact, i even switched to sub on some series that I grew up with, because the dub sucked), but I think the japanese dub for DB/DBZ is not that good.

But here is what I suggest: open the same episode in both dub and sub, watch 20 seconds of each back and forth for a couple of minutes, and see wich one you like better. This is what I do when im unsure.

What I'd do:

-Listen to a scene/episode with Goku talking in it in both English and Japanese.

Pick the version with whichever voice for Goku you liked better and go with that for the rest of the series. If you can stand Goku's Japanese voice, you'll be fine with the rest of the Japanese dub. If not, then switch to the English dub. Your ears will thank you for it.

Goku's Japanese voice drives me crazy, it's very obvious that it's an older lady's voice. His English voice fits pretty well in my opinion, he sounds like a grown man but still a child at heart. However, some characters I think sound better in Japanese (like Vegeta). Both have positives and negatives, so just check out a few clips and go with whichever one sounds better to you. The English dub is more iconic in the US, however, so most people will be more familiar with that one, if it makes a difference to you.

If you're currently watching Dragon Ball, though, why not just continue with however you're watching that?

So just because he is a bit childish he should have the voice of a granny?

To OP, pick English. The Japanese VA for Goku ruins the whole thing
