I can't believe it's already 2018 and Your Name still getting on people nerve. I'm not really a fan of those movies but I do prefer Your Name over A Silent Voice.

"new Yuri on Ice" just because Yuri on Ice was the first? It's just that the anime community is all about hype and hype can be focused only on a limited amount of shows, BNHA and MiA are those shows of last year.

People are surprised of MiA winning anime of the year when that's what most people were talking about all year long as revelation of the year anime? lol

Not sure what’s going on here,

Hero academy is a decent show, and Crunchyroll is known for their bad awards anyways.

Woohoo, why am I not surprised. I am glad that Girls' Last Tour won best Slice of Life though, so I'm glad it's got some attention. But I wonder why Mahoutsukai no Yome was not nominated for best Slice of Life given how much hype it generated upon airing...

Kinda disappointed that AoT OP 3 didn't get best OP. Don't get me wrong, I love MHA, but I preferred AoT over it.

Totally agree. I don't know if Stain will appear again in the show but we already know his ideals and the reason why he decided to act like that. Bondrewd on the other hand... his screentime is basically based on flashbacks and a short secuence at the end of the series. I love Made in Abyss but to be fair, the anime ends where his arc would start (a couple chapters ahead in the manga) and of course, in that arc we will know his reasons and what he thinks.

Tbh honest, they don't expand their nominees and once again focus only on bigger titles. They way i see it, these nominees selections are too biased.
made in abyss being AOTY was the only redeeming segment.

The heck izuku going up against these low name heroes and when they cud've added inuyashiki.

Ok what's your guys opinion on this?

What I don't get is why so many people are taking the results of these awards so seriously, are they really relevant? Do they have any significant impact?

I thought CR judges were a bunch of elitists who hate battle shonen, seems I was wrong.
Anyways, I don't care about award shows

Everyone's has different opinions and apparently most people think bnha s2 was the best show last year so I don't get what exacly you are complaining about I mean it was obvious in advance that the most popular show ll win
Go read the One Punch Man manga please, this awful adaptation by JC Staff is a disgrace.

If it's good enough, and the best one to come out each year, I don't see why not.

That's because One Piece's anime sucks and nothing made by Toei should ever be nominated.

I’m not surprised, I’m just disappointed. Not that I thought the shows I wanted to win actually stood a chance.
On a side note, I have a question. Why doesn’t crunchyroll just remove the nominations and sort through what people actually though without biases? (Example: basically just take the other box and force the viewer to actually choose a show) it’s so easy to choose one of the prepicked options even if they aren’t the best. I feel like it takes away the idea that shows are being “snubbed” from nominations. I mean I guess it just makes it harder for Crunchyroll to sort through, but from a viewer standpoint and as a consumer, I’d rather they took some pride in their work to perfect their supposedly high end award ceremony.

I’m a little bit salty about some of the results, many of them were too much based on popularity (bnha winning categories that had better choices too and shouwa genroku not winning the best drama category) but it was still way better than last year.

Some mainstream anime movie will certanelly win in this popularity contest. It's funny how everyone is mentioning Your name and Koe no katachi, lol like if they were somehow special.

And even as a Fate/Monogatari fan i can say that In This Corner of the World is here as the only candidate worth the win.

Kono Sekai no Katasumi ni aka In This Corner of the World should win...

Critically it was an extremely well produced, spectacular film that truly grabbed the essence of a specific persons life during that era... What it was like being a regular Japanese citizen during the war, the actions that they had to take on a daily basis and just how they lived their lives... It was a journey that you were subtly transported into, you felt as if you were part of it instead of being told about it... Everything was subtle and realistic, instead of being blatantly shown to you, instead the watcher deciphering it themselves... It depicted the artistic type of person and how they view the world so well... The movie just felt so real and truly fulfilling to watch... It deserves #1

Silent Voice is the next contender...

THANK YOU!
Among all the comments only focused on A Silent Voice and Your Name, this comment was needed.

It's very unlikely that he won't make another appearance. Well, his character didn't seem much in MHA 2. Villains weren't that strong this year as well. Altair seemed decent.

The people who watch shonen shows like BNHA usually don't watch much anime. So when you watch like 5 anime a year the one with the little kid fighting with superpowers looks amazing.
