Is NHK a depressing anime? I sort of just have a feeling it is. I've seen some pictures, heard a song from the soundtrack, and it just gives me a depressing vibe. If it is a depressing anime, how depressing would you say it is?

Well if one person didn't find it depressing, then it's most likely the same for me. It has to be quite "extreme" for me to call something depressing.

It's not too depressing but the soundtrack do hit the right vibes sometimes. I will say it does an excellent job in balancing the tones of the series.

Depends on what you consider sad tbh. I'm not a hikkikomori but the series's central theme about depression, suicide and social anxiety was extremely realistic and it might trigger some of your worries and issues.

What I consider depressing is when you throughout the series learn about a horrible background, and in the end the MC dies. Stuff like that.

I don't remember it being that depressing. There's themes about depression and stuff dealing with it, but it's usually lighthearted and comedic.

Stuff like Ergo Proxy, Texhnolyze, Serial Experiments Lain and Angel's Egg are depressing anime.

Just depends on the person I guess, maybe if you find it super relatable it can be depressing. But it doesn't have a bad ending so in general no.

Definitely some of the soundtrack yes, i'd say the most depressing but amazing song is Youkoso Hitori Bocchi
