According to the official twitter of Yasuda Suzuhito, an OVA series of Yozakura Quartet was announced. They "reset" the first series and will faithfully reproduce the original story of the manga so that the fans of the manga will be satisfied with the anime. The voice cast will be the same as the first series.

Title: Yozakura Quartet ~Hoshi no Umi~

Staff:
Director, Character Designer & General Graphic Director: Ryo-timo
Production Studio: Tatsunoko Productions, KMMJ Studios

The first volume will be bundled with the manga volume 9 to be released this October.

I was very disappointed with the first series, a lot of wasted potential in my opinion. Hopefully they'll indeed try something different this time around, because the characters were likeable.

The TV series was good enough, I wonder how they're planning to make it even better.

I have my reservations about the OVA format though...I'd prefer a long TV series instead.

Why should Kurenai get a remake? Matsuo Kou is a freelance director, he's not affiliated with neither Brains Base nor Nomad, and have no relation to original creators of Kurenai and Yozakura Quartet either.

In Yozakura case, I bet the reason for the remake was the success of Durarara. Now Yozakura could attract more viewers because of the same character designs and other similarities in the series composition and atmosphere.

This is good news. I heard the Manga was way better. I did like the first series, but certain elements and particularly the ending made me refrain from giving it the score I wish I could've given it.

Huh? I didn't even get time to see the original yet. Well, I will watch it anyways, just to see why the hate is so much over it. October is still far away, after all.

Definitely wasted potential.

I loved the premise, but not the execution. Really looking forward to this OVA.

Well, I don't think that the TV series was that bad, I actually enjoyed it. Yes, it had more potential, but it was a decent show IMO. I'm looking forward to the OVA.

Yasuda Suzuhito characters animated by Ryochimo? Woah, if anything, this should look fantastic. Especially since it's just going to be an OVA.

The announcement itself is pretty interesting too. It definitely reflects the fans' complaints after the adaptation by Matsuo Kuo - the sort of complaints that I wouldn't expect to be heard by producers. Then maybe Durarara!!'s popularity really did help to get the project going.

good!!! cuz everytime i wanted to sit and watch it i lost interest so fast that even those who hunt elves seemed like a masterpiece in comparison (ok, a bit exagerated - but it was "erase it so fast without second thoughts" kinda bad).

oh well, i look forward to the OVA. if it's good, i may read the manga (even though it's supposed to be the opposite... oh well..),

Fantastic. I absolutely hated what I saw, but really want to like it because of the art. Was going to pick up the manga eventually; now I have more reason to.

Personally, if I know that an anime differs from the manga, that's enough for me to not watch it in the first place. I used to not care as much, but recently my feelings on that have intensified.

This is the best news ever. The manga is a million times better than the anime. A billion times better than the anime. That first anime adaptation was a disgrace.

I cannot recommend reading this manga enough. The first volume...it doesn't suck, but it's really confusing and doesn't introduce the plot. Especially if you've seen the first anime series, I recommend skipping the first volume and going straight to the second. The anime and manga diverge from there. The manga turns into the best manga I've ever read (by far. by so far), and the anime devolves into a pile of crap.

I'm glad that they're going to remake it. While TV version wasn't bad but at the same time it wasn't good. Hopefully Yozakura Qquartet will be a lot better. TV series wasted a lot pf potential imo.

The beauty of the first volume is the fact that it jumps right into things, and introductions are made from then on. I'd easily recommend anyone who plans to check out the manga to read the first volume first.

YES. This better match up to the manga, not only in art but also as a whole. I don't mind it not being able to completely stick to the manga's storyline, but it better damn well be done great and do the source justice.

The TV series ruined the manga. The art only slightly looked like Yasuda's, and the story was completely butchered. It wasn't a bad show, but definitely horrible compared to its source.

Edit:
http://www.suzuhito.com/y01.JPG
Wow, looks like the art would be pretty good, if that's what I think it is. It doesn't look quite as much as Yasuda's (lacks a sharpness, whatever that means), but it's good and doesn't look as butchered as the TV series or Kamisama Kazoku. oh my god Rin you are so cute <3

I like Kishida's work in Durarara!! better (which was near identical to Yasuda's, I swear, and he did the same almost-perfect style back in Baccano! with Enami too), but I have high hopes for this. Not to mention the key animator also did the same for Dennou Coil and others.

And because they're comparing it to the manga now, the more I'm not going to read the damn thing (if at all) until I'm done with this coming Yozakura Quartet. It's nice to be ignorant of some things. As I didn't even know it came from a manga, I was able to watch it on its own merit. I was entertained and that is enough for me.

Ohhhhhhhhh god, I'm extremely excited about this. I'm a little bummed that Brains Base didn't get their hands on this ova, but the man leading the project makes it more or less the same. Wonder if Akio Dobashi will still be doing the music?

EDIT: Oh shit, it just only occurred to me that since this is a reset, we finally get to see Hime with her lacrosse racket. Double sweetness!!
