Do you think adults (18 or 21+) shouldn't be using it? That is something only expected to be used by under age people? |

And body language together with the tone of the voice are important parts of human communication, those can change the whole meaning of a sentence while keeping the words the same. It's one of the many reasons why sarcasm doesn't translates well on pure text, because it relies on those other parts of communication which go past text alone. To answer OP's first question: Yes, xD is childish (which isn't the same as immature), and it's meant to give that light tone to the text. Other uses is to show hilarity, same as "lol", but xD is more of a snicker or a grin, than a loud laugh like lol. |
