Which anime did u guys avoid for months/years cause u thought u wouldn't like it, but eventually watched and loved?

For me, it was Shinsekai Yori, i didn't like the art style and the synopsis of the story didn't appeal to me either. Though i'm glad i eventually did, since it's one of my all time favorites.

Same with Your lie in april, i usually avoid slice of life anime, but was surprised on how emotionally compelling it was. Thanks to this, i started liking some other slice of life anime which i would have never watched, if i didn't watch Your lie in april.

For me, it was one punch man, avoided for more than 6 months... maybe i did it because i was new to japanese dub at that time and the concept of only "one punch" was pretty annoying....

I've avoided Code Geass for a long now and finally started watching it, I only watched 2 episodes and idk what to think. I guess it's okay until now, but the art and visuals are pissing me off.

Attack on Titan I held off on for quite a while because I dismissed anything shounen related as just trashy. Man, was I an idiot.

Tengen Toppa Gurren Laggen ( as a mecha anime , i avoided it so long time but finally decided to watch it , masterpiece ofc .. )
Kill la Kill ( avoided it for 4 years , cause of the overload ecchi in it , another masterpiece ofc. )

Made in Abyss, I avoided it because I don't like Reg look and either had any interest in the series.

In a boring day I started to watch it and ended it like a marathon.

The Monogatari Series. I thought it would be just another ecchi harem crap. The first few seconds of Bakemonogatari were a huge turn off for me, but after forcing myself to get through the first episode, I got really into it.

One Piece.
Everyone was telling me to watch it, but I just didn't want to. Not bcz of the graphics, but because pirates aren't my thing, so it never picked my interest..
But things happened and now it is my favorite anime of all times and I even read the manga
.

Durarara,Noragami and Kuroshitsuji. Turns out they were really great and awesome It was unexpected. Especially Kuroshitsuji which stands out because of big cast of Anti heroes.

JoJo's Bizarre Adventure - as i deemed it was about nothing but stupidity of Animation: like FLCL was.

Assassination Classroom - as the idea of a boring school setting filled with teenage irritants didn't sound stimulating-- even if it was true the teacher was an Alien-esque being.

Psycho-Pass - the Show always caught my interest with its concept, however, the Sci-Fi setting seemed far too dull, thus, I idioticly dismissed completing the Show after seeing just a single Episode.

It took me quite some time to give Gintama a shot, due to it being episodic and comedy focussed, but I got used to it and now I'm really starting to love the show.

One Piece episode 914 & 915 & 1027 were a mistake and 957 brought the salvation - FMmatron

I didn't really did avoid it, but I never thought I would enjoy watching Kuroshitsuji and so it took me several years to give it a try.

There's also Seirei no Moribito which I never was interested in, but one day I finally gave a try and now it's one of my top favourite anime.

There are some SHAFT anime that I initially avoided due to bad reviews on MAL. After some time I decided to give them a chance, because I wanted to watch more SHAFT. After enjoying the hell out of Mekakucity Actors and Sasami-san@Ganbaranai I decided to never trust negative reviews of SHAFT anime

There are many shows I wasn't interested to watch initially and then changed my mind and decided to give it a try, however, in none of these cases I "regreted" having avoided them since it just doesn't make any significant difference. You just didn't watch them in the past when you could have done it and that's just it.

What I'm trying to say is that I've never experienced this "oh no why didn't I watch this before!! How stupid of me" type of feeling.

I regret nothing. It actually takes more of a toll on me when I watched an anime earlier when I had less experience than putting it off and watching it later. Lucky Star and Madoka I watched too early on while I put off watching Evangelion for quite a while and I'm glad I did since I probably wouldn't have properly understood it when I had first heard of it.

For me it was Naruto. Literally, for years I thought it would be the stupidest thing I would ever watch, and now it's become my favorite anime! Yes, I know it has a lot of flaws, but it's still an amazing series for me!

I avoided Re:Zero kara Hajimeru Isekai Seikatsu until December 22nd, 2017 when I started with the first 3 episodes.

I could have made more friends and enemies if I stuck up for it when the hype was new.

I mean, there's not really a reason to 'regret' sleeping on an anime like that. It's not like anime has an expiration date.

As for an anime I avoided for a long time that I ended up loving, the first thing to come to mind is Kaiji. That art style is such a high barrier to cross, but once you start watching, it's addictingly awesome. I'm pretty sure a lot of people avoid it because of that art.

Literally my top 5 list. I avoided Kaiji the longest though, shaming it for it's art and first episode. Little did I know it would be epic af.

Some recent ones are:
Occultic:Nine - everyone said it was bad and I didn't really understand the first episode.
Planetes - Seemed boring and lengthy
Punchline - thought it was just about some dude getting nosebleeds and blowing up the planet.
Kurozuka - Heard some people say it was stupid.

I regret nothing because I don't avoid anime without a respectful reason.

For example I avoid second seasons of anime I haven't liked: SAO, Tokyo Ghoul, Noragami, Fairy tail etc.

My biggest mistake I've done ever since starting anime is dropping Jojo, got back into it after becoming a Gintama fan, was in deep with Jojo and still is. May Kami-sama forgive my soul for dropping Jojo.

Gintama, sad to say. I avoided it for a couple of months after watching the first 20 episodes, cause I tend to get bored on character introductions and I still haven't get the hang of it, their jokes wasn't funny at all (for me), but then my friend encouraged me to resume Gintama. He said "You'll never regret it, I promise!"

Yep, I didn't regret watching it again. But I do regret that I nearly abandoned/dropped the series. Huhu gomensaiiiii, Gin-chaaaaaaan!

I do regret a few...the main one though is Wedding Peach.
While I was interested in Wedding Peach (because I just like mahou shoujo in general) all the comments of "it's a Sailor Moon ripoff!" got to me and I put off watching it for about...eight years
I regret putting it off for so long because I greatly enjoyed it. I've come to learn that people will throw the "Sailor Moon ripoff!" comment at ANY mahou shoujo regardless of whether it is or not.

I avoided the Fate series because it might not be my type of anime, avoided Kyoukai no Kanata for no reason (I have no idea why I did...), and avoided Rakudai Kishi no Cavalry because of having Ecchi in its genres.

I regretted avoiding them all and absolutely loved and enjoyed all of them.

Help, I'm hooked into the Fate series (not all) and am obsessed with Shirou x Saber!
Also, forever hoping for a ufotable remake of the Fate route!
