ODE TO MALENTINE Brought to you by MAL's Cupid-nyan~ Welcome to MAL's annual Valentine's Day event! This year, short poetry meets anime/manga. Part One: Submissions You are tasked with matching either an existing poem, or one of your own creation, to one or more anime/manga images. The resulting poem+image pair can either be romantic, tragic, or funny. ♥ Existing poems can have a maximum of 5 lines. ♥ Original poems can have a maximum of 14 lines. ♥ Either your image or poem (or both) should refer to some kind of Valentine's theme: romance, loneliness, chocolate, etc. ♥ Images can be still or animated. Please try to incorporate your poem onto image though, if possible. For image editing, you can use a program like MS Paint, GIMP (free), or Photoshop. For gif editing, you can use online editors like EZgif (what we used) or image programs like GIMP. Then upload your finished image to a site like Imgur and send. Once your poem+image pair is finished, send Cupid-nyan a PM with: ♥ Link to your poem+image. ♥ Link to the MAL database entry of the anime/manga. ♥ Link to where you found the poem, or state that it's an original. ♥ Pick a category: romantic, tragic, or funny. Part Two: Voting Once we collect all of the entries, we will create a voting thread/form where the community can look over all the submissions and vote on their favourites. You don't need to think of it immediate, just see what pops out. | Mh. Was looking forward to this cause I really enjoyed last year's event. Sadly, poetry isn't my cup of tea and the guessing part which I found to be the most interesting aspect is missing. Also, since this will be a popular vote, I feel like you basically can't afford to write a poem about anything that's not popular if you want a chance at winning. Anyway, not sure I'll be participating this time around, but still, have fun and good luck to those who will. |

| I want to try...but I have a feeling that the gifs will have a significant advantage over the still images. Perhaps the voting for gifs should be separate from the still images... Questions! 1. Size limits (Image size, etc.)? I might be using a lot of frames... 2. We're limited to 3 submissions (one for each category). Can we still submit more images but not include them as part of the voting? Just for fun? 3. Gore and Ecchi! How far can we go? |

| Here's my question: Is a joint submission acceptable (i.e. one person writes the poem, another person creates the image)? Also, I assume of one person of the joint submits to their own one category, the joint would have to be in another category? |

At first it sounded really interesting because I thought we would combine poems and anime, and then in the second round people would have to guess the anime or something.
