Am I the only one who finds this anime boring to sit through?

How do you feel about the show and people who are bored by it?

6 episodes in and the best two words to describe it so far is pretty dull. You can see how hard the animators worked, but so far the most I cared about is when they bring up the war and they tiny bits of violets past mainly cause would like to know why she is so robotic. Also there is a problem with the music as they dont know how to control its volume or when to kick it in. I shouldn't hear blaring music thats also dramatic when literally nothing is happening.

It's easy to tell why this show is boring, (I gave the show a 10/10, as a reference), the reason for that it's a: Coming-of-Age, which is in all seriousness, an extremely boring genre; to invest your time in. At times the story does go nowhere, and the pacing of some clients is either too fast, or too slow; (the special had a relatively good timing for a client).

Also unlike most t.v. shows, the protagonist is not actually Violet Evergarden, it's her clients, who are the main characters, and she works on expressing their emotions; (notice how all the episodes are about how a client felt loss or some feeling of love). Episodes 2-3, don't follow the light novels at all, and KyoAni went full blown on making their own story. Violet is by all standards, an emotional character, but she has no idea what she's doing, and all the other characters just give her some steps to learn what, "I love you" means.

Because VE isn't really mainstream storytelling? A lot of the direction is done very old school, plot, setting and characters are heavily romanticized. I personally felt that VE improved after first 5 episodes but it's definitely not for everyone. I looked at how the novel is structured and sometimes I wonder whether it would've been better if Kyoani stuck with the novel layout rather than going their own way.

VE isn't your typical shonen anime. VE perceives it's viewers into Violet's life as she find's the true meaning of I love you. For some, it may be boring and only the animation stands out, but for me. It was executed perfectly. So don't get your hopes up for some badass magical girls fighting for a toy, nor even a girl who is obviously a killing machine which kills people for fun. Or intense battles.

No,you're not the only one. the story is pretty much normal. Nothing so unique or anything. But the animation,visual,cv,ost,art juts looks so gorgeous that it doesn't matter that much. In all aspect,I gave would this show 8 except the story,which is I feel like 6/10 at best. Overall,I enjoyed this good looking show,so I gave it 8/10.
