What did hold them back from making second season?

I thought popularity is the main key for a series to expand. NGNL seems really popular, so why won't they make another season? Is there any particular reason for that?

The author was sued for a shitty reason
(He was copying the poses of some other characters (just the poses )to draw the few pics that are found in a usual LN
