| im gonna go into the 10th episode of this; generally it's alright, although it has some cliche moments -or is it the OG of cliche we see in modern anime... what piqued my interest was the fact of its use of psychoanalysis, though i'm not picking up on it since i've started. and before anyone says whether or not I know what psychoanalysis is, to my understanding it's "therapy for mental health/cpnditions by analysis of interaction between our conscious and subconscious" anyone really academically minded will have heard of notable figures such as sigmund freud etc. other than that i've only seen religious symbolism in the fact that ikari's father was given the first human and the crosses that appear when angels decide to blow things up. im not so good with this genre deconstruction so at most ive only seen it with the mechas connected to a power source |
