| I don't really believe in perfect shows which slightly complicates what I rank as a ten (and I'm already somewhat indecisive by nature) after at time I've started generally ranking the very best shows 've seen as 9's by default while meaning after a certain amount of time and buildup to go through them (and potentially rewatch some) and promote some up to 10. So including most but not necesarily all of my 9's is what I'm going to do here. Also favourite anime and overall best anime are to me not quite the same thing so while this is very close to a favourites list thats not what it is. GHOST IN THE SHELL- It looks great, especially when you consider its age. it's great with atmosphere, world building, action and excels at visual story (or perhaps theme would be a better word here) telling. It's a short film too yet feels neither rushed nor padded. GHOST IN THE SHELL: STAND ALONE COMPLEX and its sequel 2ND GIG- For a mid-2000s series this looks fantastic and feels unique. I've watched a lot f sci fi and the world building here's remarkable, it's less elegant and denser than the films but perhaps more intelligent, its exploration of the social and political ramifications of its worlds emerging technologies is brilliant. Taken as a whole this is the most intelligent anime I've watched, it's second season has one of the best villains and it also vies with Bebop for series with the best soundtrack to me. Cowboy Bebop movie: The show looked great for its time, the movie looks great period. It's fun, it's action scenes are great and its soundtrack is brilliant. Princess Mononoke, Howl's moving Castle, Spirited away, Castle in the Sky, Kiki's delivery service, Porco Rosso: It's Miyazaki people. Whisper of the heart: Okay so it's not Miyazaki but it's got charm, whimsy and feels to spare. Summer wars: Just a REALLY good family film (in more ways than one) Spice and Wolf: fantastic characters and banter in a refreshing setting. Steins gate: This show handles both humour and drama superbly and the banter between the characters is fantastic. Fullmetal Alchemist and brotherhood: I'm really running out of steam here but basically I think their great shows. |

| Now that I look at my list on 10s, it's a pretty standard list Clannad: After Story Koe no Katachi Steins;Gate Drifter (probably the strangest inclusion) I'm honestly thinking the anime I've not rated 10 are more interesting. Mostly anime that most other people would vote 10 and pretty strange anime (at least according to others) that I've rated 8 or 9. |

Aye, good taste. Baccano! is pretty damn great, it's an experience. That being said the first two times I tried to watch it I quit ten minutes into episode 1 bc I got bored. Don't know what my damage was, but the third time was the charm and I'm literally in love with it now. |
