Anime Fandom Behavior That You Wish Didn't Exist?

For me, this Waifuism AKA 2D>3D madness takes the cake. Back in the days, anime is seen as someone a nerd would nerd out on. You know, like Star Wars and Star Trek. Nowadays, anime is associated with all sorts of weird stuff that normies would nope the fuck out as soon as they hear the word anime. I don't blame them especially when this kind of shit is happening irl:

Sometimes people don't seem to realize how small a medium anime is. I mean there's a lot out there but compared to something like movies or live action television it's a pretty small world. So people with all sorts of different tastes end up crammed into one community. Wish people would understand that.

But instead we just get this never ending battle of ____ is shit no _____ is shit cause people want every single thing that exists to pander to their tastes completely. It's obnoxious.

This bullshit level of elitism where people slam dubs and people who like them for no reason other than they prefer subs. Then people who only like dubs who come slam people who prefer subs and attack them for no reason other than dubs. Thats the biggest problem with this fanbase is this bullshit belief that what you like is superior and others have to agree with you or they're wrong. Just let people like what they like, it shouldn't effect you. We're all in the same community and fanbase(s) so we should get along, leave the debates for other things.

The elitism and rancid hostility.
That's it. Subs/dubs, waifus, studios, it pretty much exists in all fields. This also occurs with video games, western cartoons, generally everything.

a tie between people caring about what other people like so much and the copious amounts of unfunny self-depricating memeing about being an anime fan, jokes are only funny when the same ones aren't being told in the same places on a daily basis, especially when those jokes tend to have strong undertones of insecurity over trite matters such as liking anime

What bothers me in the anime watching community isn't the weebdom or fanaticism, but this perpetual state of a select group of people whom feel like it makes them superior when they constantly have a holier-than-thou attitude. The never-ending needing to toot their own horn and pompous behaviour through a thinly veiled disguise of intellectualism and condescension through their superiority complex ridden attitude towards others while not realizing that the way they act is entirely deplorable in nature. Often projecting their insecurities through cheap high horse-ry and dismissal remarks while they vainly balloon their egoes. The sad thing is that they don't realize that the only thing they're doing is embarrassing themselves and alienating themselves further and further from the community by the disillusion of being better than the rest while they watch Japanese cartoons and masturbate to animated pornography.
I'm also filled with pure-hearted ulterior motives.

The side that feels the need to belittle the entire medium they as a community are part of. Whether it is sarcasm or a joke, it's enough to the point it's just tiresome to see.

- Most of the fujoshis behave badly, and no, I don't hate them, I just stay away from the crazy ones.
- Immature men-children shounentards and their bullshit.
- Over analyzing shitlords, no, K-On isn't a materpiece or Re:Zero isn't a complex deconstruction and social commentary. Nope.

A general thing: People, who can't behave at a con and outside of it. Also there a few of these specialists in daily life as well. Especially these girls, who are loud and squeaky.
Or: all these people with no social common sense.

The worst of this example were two teenage girls (like 16, not too young) squeaking about a gay kissing couple. I was out with them in a bar and there were these two hyperactive girls with no social common sense.
Calm your fujoshi-asses. We are not at the zoo to observe and aww others so openly and they are real people. That's humiliating. -.-

And there are more of these weird and also sometimes creepy guys in nerd-fandoms in general, as far as I can tell, who hit on you in weird ways and have not the slightest sense of personal bonds, borders and privacy etc... and what others might feel and think about their behavior.

For example: There was this guy I knew for like three hours, suddenly kissing my damn hand, bc I asked him about the bus station and he walked me to it. He honestly thought that this action would be chivalrous or something. No... just no. Ofc, that's harmless and I was not really mad, but these are big wtf-no-don't-moments.
Ofc, many guys in "nerd-fandoms" aren't like that, but some others really icked me. ^^"

Most of them are harmless and all, but it's weird, if someone thinks you are best friends or in love, because you have talked for a really short time and ask you very private questions after an hour or so.
Uhm... they have this "typical" anime-concept about friendship and love in mind, I guess. (Ofc, many anime try to build up relationships, because their authors seem to speak to real people from time to time xD, but you know what I try to say, I think.)

I think humanity in general would do better without those creepy idol/seiyuu fans who send death threats to their objects of cult. Like, removing them from existence would be fine enough.

What days? Waifuism has been around for decades. I remember reading a topic about Akihabara being swarmed by otakus in the mid 90s.

So, what days?

personally, i hate how things like pedophilia or incest are normalized, glorified, and accepted by many members of the anime fandom. when the fandom accepts things like this, the industry continues to perpetuate the notion that these things are normal. this leads to more fandom acceptance. and then more industry perpetuation. it's a horrid cycle of escalation.

there is genuine evidence that sexualization of small children in anime has lead to adults coming to asia just to abuse little girls and boys, which is just not okay in any way, shape, or form.

sure, anime elitists, 12 year old weebs, sub vs dub battles, and overly enthusiastic fujoshi can be annoying. but they're small potatoes compared to the problems of lolicon and shotacon. these genres are detrimental to children who may be groomed by it, and to fans who may be lead to believe that pedophilia is alright through their viewing of it. there is a disturbing amount of this trend in anime and it needs to stop. a teenager who is way too into shipping hetalia characters isn't going to hurt anyone. a 40 year old who prays on young schoolchildren is.

Animation elitists. Like, you enter an episode discussion and sometimes the entire discussion is about ''muh cgi'' and ''the animation was crap'', and so on and so forth for pages.

Sometimes this is valid. Not every series with jarringly poor animation is watchable.

Loli obsession. This has got to go.

Everything about the whole "elitist and casuals" debacle needs to die if this community ever wants to improve. Any actual elitists needs to stop, and any butthurt piece of shit falsely accusing someone of being one needs to stop as well.

Probably the part where people care so much about what other people likes.

And also when people send death threats to creators on social media just because they weren't happy with the work's writing.

Nobody has abused children because they watched fictional children being sexualized. If some moved to asia to do it they would've done it anyway. There's no connection between fiction and actual child molestation.

What is there not to hate? I love anyme, but people who watch it are fucking morons.

They ship impossible couples. They are so faggoty. Like, why do you ship characters that arent even remotely gay? Like levi x the other blonde dude.

Stop being elitist and edge lords. I get it, everyone enjoys different anime, but why tf do you have to shit on popular stuff? if i like naruto, its none of your damn bussines. I know all of its flaws. STFU

Also, dont be weird. Dont be that one kid in school who runs like naruto and screams RASENGAN!

And theres ton more. But in general, people who wanth anime, dont be yourself. Thank you

Sexualizing and fantasizing about minor characters and 'lolis' despite being nowhere near their age

The extremely embarrassing "2D>3D" bullshit

Policing what other people watch, whether it be """elitist""" anime watchers making fun of everyone who watches Naruto or people who watch Cute Girls Doing Cute Things anime labeling everyone else as pretentious

Oh hey, this topic.

Let me see if i remember all the things I complained about the last time such a topic came up. I forget when it last came up but I do remember posting in it.

* Applying memes to everything.
* Turning everything into memes and running jokes.
* Flaming things.
* Shaming people for liking things. This goes for both popular and unpopular things, mind you.
* Acting like only the most famous and/or only the most recent shows matter.
* Being sarcastic/"ironic" about everything.
* Constantly wanting something crazier, as if smacking an increasingly ineffective pleasure button.
* Hype trains.
* Hatedoms.
* Complaints about there being content one doesn't like. (Disliking it is fine. But it's another thing to opine that it should die in a fire.)
* Mistaking rudeness for honesty/candor.
Avatar character is Gabriel from Gabriel DropOut.

Wait, it's not? Sure, sending friend requests is an action, but I was trying to talk about what people want (becoming friends immediately)...which I think constitutes as behavior?

hard to say really. But most important would be people attacking ecchi in the dumbest of fashion being all morally anal so to say
second I want people to stop being all uptight about release vs chronological order. Like ok I always say chronological if given the chance but if someone picks release order I won't say their opinion of the show afterwards is wrong like Ive seen people who recommend release order do
