The Ghost in the Shell
| After seeing the live Action movie i am confused about her past and why her ghost has been put in the Shell. In the movie they say she has been kidnapped and was Part of crual attempts from this robotic Company...i guess this has just been made for the movie In the anime it was a plane crash and she and kuze were the only who survived. Is her past explained in the manga? So what really happened to her? |

| The different versions of GitS tell "paralell" stories set in "alternative universes" (stand alone complex, the live action film, the original films and the arise series, that without counting the source material, the manga). The four versions of the universe that currently exist have many things in common, but not everything is shared between the versions. For example, as you say, in the sac series, there is an episode (one of the best from that season imo) where the past of Motoko is told, the plane crash and all that stuff with Kuze, but in the 1995 movie, nothing is said about Motoko's past (if I recall correctly). The parcial "coincidence" between sac and the live action movie is just a little hommage to sac, I guess. In the manga (I only read the first, the original work) they don't explain anything about Motoko's childhood. |
| The live action movie is a joke. You should not pay it any attention, that much is clear. |
