Apparently Trigger's patreon has been greenlighted. Personally, I've spent around 1.5k hrs on anime and I've never paid for anything that I watched, now I finally feel like doing so.

Thoughts? Would you become a patreon?

I feel that now I can finally just give me money directly to the people that make the thing, and not via buying a shitty membership or extra plastic

I don't mind.
But not now, it's complicated.

Love this idea! I’ll become a patron for sure. It’s nice to be able to directly give money to the anime studios you love.

The suspense created by the seemingly-unfinished title is harming me, mentally. Either I must complete the title using my imagination, or, realising that an answer can never realistically be found, accept the title as it is. Perhaps it is a statement on the completion-mindset created by modern society, and the desire for satisfaction through resolution, where potentially there can be none. I do not know. I must investigate this further.

I'm not a particularly big Trigger fan, so I won't be signing up to their patreon. If it's other studios that I'm more fond of, then maybe.

Though I prefer the KyoAni approach more. They have their own KyoAni physical store they manage themselves, and the revenue goes directly to the studio. The buyer gets merchandise and actually support the studio (quite a win-win). Shaft does something similar with Shaft-ten online store, and perhaps other studios also.

I haven't bought a single physical copy of the TLR manga, not even the volumes with Run on the cover, so I'm sure as hell not giving Trigger any of my money

MAPPA patreon I will donate. They are probably the only studio I would donate to.

I’ll give them money if they promise more Little Witch Academia.

The correct form of that sentence would be "I'll give them more money if they promise more Sucy"

I dislike the idea of for profit companies owned by investors becoming a pseudo charity of sorts.

That said, I have no idea who owns trigger.

I don't get it. Isn't Trigger's motto is to create anime which they can't afford to make so they have to cut excessively on animation budget?

An anime studio that isn't indie shouldn't need a Patreon.

No.
I don't even like Trigger, but that's not the point.
I won't support a studio, it doesn't matter which one, I would support a certain anime but who knows if I will ever do that.

They just have some of the best and most exemplary animation styles and consistency in the current market... Not much

Personally I don't like much of what trigger produces so I won't be backing them but if people want to support them financially then it's their money and I'm in no position to judge how other people choose to spend their own money. I hope that they're successful, discovering additional income streams is good for the anime industry as a whole.

I'd like to support them. Trigger's stuff is great and I don't need extra discs.
