I loved season 1, wasn't a fan of season 2 for manga spoiler reasons but it wasn't horrible by any means. Just didn't live up to my expectations. I'm very unsure about this upcoming season but I'm hopeful that it'll be good.

Do you have any opinions or feelings one way or the other about the upcoming season?

I hope so, although I dropped Root A so it's unlikely that I'll even watch it.

I have to stay 50-50 on this one. I'm expecting a season 1 & 2 vibe. But who knows? Might be the best season for Tokyo Ghoul.

If it adapts the Re; manga won't following up be difficult? Root A was pretty different from its manga counterpart. I wonder what they will do.

Honestly it probably will... They fucked up so much with the previous ones (and they know it)... So they will most likely do this one correctly...

BUT I HAVE 0% EXPECTATIONS AFTER THE PAIN THE PREVIOUS SEASONS CAUSED ME

I hope it will be produced by a studio that isn't pierrot and adapt tokyo ghoul re.

I heard that this sequel is better then its prequel.

If they learn from previous 2, it might be better.
The problem ppl dont like the previous because so much different from the manga. And thoose difference make it bad, like plot holes, lack of in depht explanation, and different plot story.

I hated Tokyo Ghoul seasons 1 & 2 for how edgy they are. Based on the spoilers I've heard about what happens to Kaneki, season 3 might actually have substance.

Season 1 was decent. I wasn't blown away by it but it wasn't totally trash. Season 2 however was very meh. So I can at least expect season 3 to be better than Root A.

If it follows the manga (like season 1), then it should be decent. If it doesn't follow the manga (like Root A), then it might be mediocre.

Tokyo Ghoul:re feels like the whole Negima/UQ Holder situation. It's best to read all of the Negima manga before watching the UQ Holder anime, so it's probably going to be best to read all of the original Tokyo Ghoul manga before watching the Tokyo Ghoul:re anime as well.

Decent is about all you can hope for when it comes to Tokyo Ghoul. Also maybe it's just me, but I liked it a little better when it was off track in filler land more than when it was supposedly following the manga.

Don't really have high expectations for it, to be honest.

It will probably be at least better than season 2 if it follows the manga though.

Well, I hope so...

Haven't read the manga though, so I don't have any set expectations. I just want the story to continue. (I find it interesting to compare manga/anime though, I just don't read manga that often. Also I prefer my action animated anyway.)

They probably noticed that the tokyo ghoul manga fans weren’t too happy with Root A,so they most likely followed the manga this time.
Either way i will love it! :))

No, Tokyo Ghoul is beyond saving.
It started out fine, with a gripping first episode and a solid first season. Then the second season took the show in a direction that makes it unsalvageable.

It's a damn shame, but they would have to reboot this one. Stick with the manga.

It's true that root a is different from the manga but they both finish on the same conclusion, so i don't think there will be a problem if they want to adapt manga this time. Also they didn't animate the fight between kenki and arima at the end of tg, so they may wanna start with that. Like a flash back or something atleast, it was a cool fight. Do you think it'll be 12 ep or 24-5?

i dont think it will be good. They really messed up root A.If you have read the manga, then u can feel real difference. And i dont think they can make up for root A in :re,they will just re-write it and make another trash.
So just quit waiting for the anime and read the manga.

have you read the manga?..tokyo ghoul manga finishes after kaneki and arima fight, and then tokyo ghoul re starts the story again 2 years after this fight.
both root anime and tg manga end with kaneki's "death"

I know this is semantics but Arima vs Eto is the final fight of the manga. After that, everyone reflects on everything that happened. Touka waits for Kaneki to come back. While changes at the CCG take place. And of course we learn that the Clowns get the last laugh. And then the manga has an epilogue where we meet Sasaki for the first time. I still agree with your point, I'm just playing the semantic card that the manga didn't end on the Arima fight.

Also, while the conclusion was basically the same, the context of the events were entirely different.

oh you're right, arima fought kaneki before the owl..
yes the context was different, but we still see kaneki getting captured, hide dying , and the rest, and we didn't see the fight between arima and kaneki in the anime, so they can still show it or mention it or something ( since it is related to one of the flash backs later in manga, which i don't think they skip in the anime)
or it will follow the manga but it'll have plot holes like s2.

I mean, it's not just the ending of the original that is continued in Re. The anime didn't touch on the clowns. Didn't touch much on one eyed ghouls being made. Rize is still dead in the anime. Hide died whereas he was left ambiguous in the manga. Etc etc.
Anyway, it doesn't really matter because since the manga is advising people to read volume 14, I imagine it'll be faithful somewhat this time.

Root A finishes with a scene where Kaneki carries Hide's body, and meets Arima,And Hide dies there.
