Okay, I joke. But who was the first girl you noticed that made you like anime in the first place?

I have a hard-on for Yui.

Basically, any favorite female characters I know or so called my "best girl" for me.

Yuno is actually one of my first waifu and I still like her. She is cute :^) I fapped to a doujin of her

Ichigo from Aikatsu! tbh, Akari overall has better development and depth but Ichigo did make the series super fun before she came to play.

Totally agree. Yuno came first on my mind when I started, and heard while browsing the net 6 years ago.

Yay Listing Thread!
The MC of one of my very first anime of course.

The enemy of all mankind.
The exterminator of all bandits.
The name that all monsters shiver at when it is spoken.
The most powerful sorceress in the land.

Horo from Spice and Wolf, she's freaking cute and intelligent.
Kaguya from Kaguya-sama wa Kokurasetai, she's one of the rarest girl I've seen, she's a Yandere and a Tsundere.
But if it's from a web novel, definitely Monica from Sevens, she's freaking funny, though that novel alone has a lot of waifu material that I haven't seen in many stories, it's like Yuno and Esdeath is in a single story fighting over.

Anime in general? Or just one specific anime? If it's the latter, definitely Yuno from Future Diary, because she MADE that anime.

The first girl in anime I really enjoyed watching? Must've been either Videl from Dragonball Z or Rei from Neon Genesis Evangelion. Not sure who came first.

Well I started to become slightly curious about character tropes in anime once I gotten into romcoms (which was essentially right after I started watching anime), and got attached to the emotionless loli pretty early. For a really short while it started with Azusa, then shortly after I foun Tsukiko and she's the most adorable thing ever since, all throughout these 4 years it never changed.
I'm not a lolicon, you're just projecting your tendency to lewd 2D characters.

If your favourite character is Tsutsukakushi Tsukiko, you are my soul mate.

Been a long time since I've been here, I'll continue expressing myself freely and believe everyone should too.

Don't have any females in my top 10. Top 20 probably has Yuki Nagato from Suzumiya and Kagura from Gintama.

I'll give special props two real women though... Masako Nozawa and Mayumi Tanaka for their voices as Goku and Luffy, respectively. They definitely made anime more fun for me.

The first stretches back to when I was a child, and would be Amy from Sonic X. If we're talking when I wasn't watching stuff on 4Kids TV, then it would be Koyuki Azumaya from Keroro Gunso. Akko from Little Witch Academia made me fall in love again with anime, though.

Well the first femalr character that boosted her show for me is got to be Makise Kurisu. Strong female lead with a great personalitly and realistic writing.

The greatest boost to an anime by a feamale character happened
when I saw Shinsekai Yori, but technically that show is waay to serious to be called "fun".
<insert seagull inhealing meme>

The biggest boost given to an anime by a female character that was actually funny for me was non other than Megumi Noda. Taiga was funny too with the MC going over to clean up, but Nodame happened waaaay too often

Shoutout to: Ana Gram

It wasn't a female character. I believe it was either Yami Yugi or Rock Lee when I was a kid and the shows were broadcasted in tv. I thought I could also be as strong as him if I trained enough, and I liked Yugi cause he was both moe and cool at the same time. I was a simple kid at the time so don't be harsh on my reasoning.

A female character that got me into anime? Most probably Kinomoto Sakura since Cardcaptor Sakura is how I discovered anime back in 2003.

Some other anime girls I admired back then (don't remember the order I watched it in):
Kou Shuurei from Saiunkoku Monogatari (the eng dub shown by Animax called her Shirly Hong for some reason)
Tazusa Sakurano from Ginban Kaleidoscope
Lady Anissina von Karbelnikoff from Kyo Kara Maoh (I still like her!)
Haruhi Suzumiya
Saber from Fate/Stay Night

When I started out watching anime as a child, you mean, or are you referring to something else entirely?

If the former, then probably everyone in Sailor Moon (though, now it's more specifically Makoto Kino/Sailor Jupiter as she's a Tomboy, like me, among other things) or Sakura Kinomoto from Cardcaptors/Cardcaptor Sakura.

If the latter, then most definitely Homura Akemi as well as Kyoko Sakura from Puella Magi Madoka Magica...among many, many, many others. pf course.

Why? Because both Homura and Kyoko, like Makoto Kino/Sailor Jupiter, are - I believe - other representations of who I am in terms of personality (though more so Kyoko than Homura, however), et cetera, so...

Perfect forum post for me! A female character was actually the reason I started enjoying anime in the first place and eventually start watching anime in a full fledged way, I know, I know it sounds quite dumb of a reason to start watching anime. Oh and it was Mikasa.

Usually I like more things than just one character in an anime. And especially many male characters make an anime fun to watch to me.
Let me think: many good female leads or main characters would also make the anime great, if they were a male character or they aren't the only / main reason, why I like this anime.

Especially Spice and Wolf would have been boring without Holo. ^^
Atm I really like Chise from MahoYome a lot as well and she is the core of the story to me. Ofc Elias too, but well... she is great. XD
Though the girls, who made an anime fun to watch and special to me, are Youko from Juuni Kokuki and Yona. Tho both anime have a great story and so on, their female leads are still their heart imo.

If it has to be a girl, then I guess it's Kagome from InuYasha? I'm not sure if I entirely understand the question, but that was the first anime I ever watched where I thought "this is cool as shit" and wanted to learn more about it.

Since my first anime was To Love Ru and that's the reason why I got hooked more in watching more anime, my answer would be Lala. She's very lovely and really fun to watch and she's the sole reason why I totally loved To Love Ru before. I'm really sad that she's getting less and less screen time every TLR series especially Darkness(And that's why I'll never like Darkness although I love some Lala scenes there).
