The fact that it has art on the cover or that it has anime and manga adaptations have literally nothing to do here since novels and light novels have more differences than "this one has art, this one not". Light novels are books written to be an easy-read, that means no complex kanjis are used, only Kana (Hiragana + Katakana) or basic Kanjis. The grammar in LN is not as sophisticated as regular novels, after all they are meant to be read by very young public, even middle schoolers with low Kanji knowledge. They have lots of images too, so the reading won't be too heavy for beginners. Novels are like the LN's older brothers, they are meant to be read by people with enough Kanji knowledge and they are written with a more sophisticated grammar. This type of novels are a challenge to read for young people, since most of them don't have enough Kanji knowledge and won't be able to read them easily. |
