The first 2018 issue of Shueisha's Weekly Shounen Jump has announced on Monday that a number of notable manga authors who were serialized in the magazine will pen one-shots in commemoration of its 50th anniversary in 2018.
In addition, three novice authors will launch two new manga series in the magazine's upcoming issues. Ryouji Hirano will publish his Bozebeats manga in the seventh issue on January 15, while Tsuya Matsukita and Shiro Usazaki will launch their Act-Age manga in the eighth issue on January 22. Hirano published the Boze one-shot in the magazine last year on March 28. Matsukita and Usazaki published their Asagaya Geijutsu Koukou Eizouka e Youkoso one-shot in the magazine earlier this year on January 30.
The issue further revealed that Yoshihiro Togashi's Hunter x Hunter manga will resume its serialization in the magazine's ninth issue on January 29. The manga went on hiatus in September with plans to resume within this year.
I'm no special story or anything. I'm just a manga that wants to be read, like you could find anywhere. But, if, for argument's sake, you were to adapt me into an anime series, it would certainly be....a tragedy.
-The Tokyo Ghoul/Tokyo Ghoul:re manga, if they could talk
A lot of big names over here are coming back, honestly I'm looking forward to some of them, especially the one from Kubo, Isin, Mitsutoshi and Komi. I think Komi can do another good one-shot since his last one was really fucking good. So we'll have to see.
