| THIS IS A MANGA ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS ANYTHING BEYOND THIS CHAPTER. ---------------------------------------- White Path and Wolf: This was a great story to end Spice & Wolf with (though the story doesn't actually end). What I love about this story is that it serves as a larger metaphor. As Holo continued telling stories until she was not longer able to, so to did Isuna Hasekura do as well. However, Lawrence and Holo continue their travels tomorrow. Spice & Wolf has been quite the personal journey for me. I began reading the light novels back in 2012 when became convinced a third season wasn't going to happen. It took me five years to reach this point, though that was how long it took for the light novel series to finish. Looking back on all the posts I've made for this series, its clear that this story is far from perfect. There were some volumes that I though were pretty bad, and I there are aspects of the writing in general I though was pretty poor. All that said, I still greatly enjoyed reading it. Now if you're wondering why as of 2017, Spice & Wolf is still considered on going, that is because Isuna Hasekura revisited the series after a five year break with the Spring Log volumes. He also began a new series called Wolf & Parchment that feature Col and the daughter of Lawrence and Holo. I for one can't wait to see where the story goes from here. |
