LONDON (Reuters) - A black model who appeared in a Dove advert denounced as racist by many social media users has defended the clip, saying that far from belittling black women it celebrated ethnic diversity.

She said there was a 30-second, made-for-TV version that had other images and a slogan that made it much clearer that the intention was to say that all women deserved quality products.

Far from fitting into this narrative, she wrote, her participation in the Dove advert was a chance to “represent my dark-skinned sisters in a global beauty brand”.

Hello, I'm a marketing representative from Unilever, a transnational umbrella corporation for global brands like Dove. At Unilever we are committed to the lowering of barriers for consumers to access our products. Much progress has been made in the elimination of global barriers to trade. However, as a business we still incur costs in the localization of national marketing campaigns. It is therefore critical to develop a homogeneous global market at the level of the consumer themselves.

Our perfect consumer has the following attributes:

1. No particular identity
2. No particular morality
3. No particular thoughts
4. Strongly identifies with our brands

As you can appreciate, there are still barriers to the deployment of our global strategy. We will continue to work tirelessly in close association with companies and governments to resolve this issue.

With love,
Emma Lee

You don't even know what a straw man is. You don't link to something that can be edited by anybody. You link to the actual sources.

Yeah, it's one you just used. It can't by edited by anybody. There are 146 sources presented, so pick and choose from them as you wish. If you are completely oblivious to certain commonly known facts, like a alot of people an MAL are, Wikipedia is always a good place to start.

Feel free to disprove anything that's written. Feel free to provide any source for your statement yourself. Feel free to give one single piece of motivation as to why your statement would be true. We both know you can't do that though. Because you a are either another lame troll or a another nutjob who denies everything not fitting to your narrow world view.

You clearly don't know how Wikipedia works.

It doesn't seem intentionally racist, but it does come off as "don't you black girls wish you had white girl skin?"

I don't think they need to necessarily apologize for it, but they could try to clear up their intent if there's any confusion.,
