 An official website has opened and announced that an original anime titled Megalo Box will premiere in Spring 2018. The anime will be a part of the 50th anniversary commemoration project of Ashita no Joe franchise.Based on the original draft by Ikki Kajiwara and Tetsuya Chiba, Megalo Box will center on a boxer named JD, who has immersed himself in fixed matches in an underground ring. | Interesting, I am looking more forward to this since this will provide us new stories they can tell. I am calling it right now JD is one of the kids that were following Joe around. I also wonder if other characters will show up from Jos like, I want to see Danpei, Yoko, Nishi, Noriko, Sachi, Wolf, to show up somepoint in the series. Overall I am really hype and I can't wait until it comes out, please let be good. |

Not just being a purist but ANJ was perfect the way it was and the classic chalky art style was befitting for its gritty feel and atmosphere. Ippo is more upbeat, happy, and stylized.
