Looking at hentai but other shows that fall into the same situation may apply too.

At what point is it allowed for a special version/release of a anime to get a new entry?

I saw Koikishi Purely Kiss's cut version (a version with all hentai scenes removed) was accepted as a separate entry despite the fact that I already added that information to the more info tab of the original version when the cut version was originally released, or I may have attempted to create a separate entry which was denied and the information was added there instead. Regardless, it's there.

Now there was another special edition version I submitted a few years back, it got its own page for a while before it was taken down and the details of that version added to the page of the original series. That being Kanojo x Kanojo x Kanojo Complete Edition. It was all 3 episodes of the original series compiled into a single episode, like a compilation/recap movie. It also contain some new scenes and had entire scenes changed, not like a anime blu ray getting updated visuals but it literally had entirely new scenes in place of their old. Now that I look at it, for some reason, that information isn't even mentioned in details.

To add on, just recently, another hentai, Baku Ane, got a director's cut re-release with 4 minutes of new content. Now what does this fall under? New entry? More info? Background?

I ask this because MAL has been rather inconsistent with its hentai categorization lately, like with these 1 cour hentai shorts that have been getting seasonal airings.

If we want consistency, then Koikishi Purely Kiss cut version should be removed or those seasonal hentai shorts should have their own separate entry. Also inconsistent between the usage of background or more info for some examples above.

If you see a hentai anime using a manga/eroge cover image, help by replacing it with its proper image!

should have absolutely never been accepted into the database. Some mod messed up. Hentai OVAs which get a Director's Cut released direct to video are not allowed in the database. This is why historically every Core Mix (the reverse of Purely Kiss, where almost everything BUT the pornographic scenes removed) of any hentai has been rejected from the database and absolutely litter the DB Denial thread. As one mod said "no recapish OVAs of OVAs" applied to all OVAs, not just hentai. Bible Black: New Testament Recap is in the same boat and should be deleted as well, some user brought it up a while ago but things take ages to get deleted.

Was that information there before? It should definitely have it regardless. Other anime also get entirely new scenes for their DVD/BD release but MAL does not make new entries for them. Like Nichijou averaged about 3 new skits per episode.

etc.
MAL only makes a new entry if close to 50% of it is new/different content like https://myanimelist.net/anime/23703/Gatchaman_Crowds__Embrace

More Info. Background is only for "This includes the history of the work, awards it may have won, details on how this work may have impacted the industry or individuals' careers, North American licensing information, media adaptations outside of anime/manga, etc."

Those ComicFesta Anime Zone ones honestly should be labeled as hentai with ONA as the type.
