| If you're going to argue back to how Englishmen spell animation in plural, why not argue back to how the Romans spelled animare? Oh wait, it's a verb, it has none. Well, no matter, standard Latin plural then. The conclusion, is anime is the singular, animi in plural. What you say, go later back? oh shit Either way, who cares, I don't see any good reason for either - if anime is better than animes because it's closer to the original, okay, but then why do you not say "universe/universa", "piano/piani", "smörgåsbord/smörgåsbord" or whatever other proper original language plural forms (or other, like definitives or infinitives or...)? Putting an -s to a word is indeed proper English procedure. And then I'm one of those who try to go to the language the word was loaned from.
