I just don’t get it how and why is this a thing? Did it magical somehow do good in DVD sales?

Honestly, this show was quite bad at the start, but I started to like it halfway through. I'm glad it got second season as the plot was getting interesting

I don't know WHY, but I know I am really glad it is getting a second season, because it got me really curious about what was going to happen.
It was getting really interesting, and I hope the second season tells everything I want to know.

I liked the first season, but there absolutely didn't happen a thing, all I can hope for is that this season actually will be having a story.
I like bad endings

This definitely took my by surprise. The show wasn't all that great, but the story was interesting enough that it really left me wanting answers at the end. It was just such a mediocre production that I didn't expect a season 2.

tl;dr It's a donghua made with Chinese money for the Chinese market mainly.

The source manhua is among the most popular and highly rated titles on China's biggest online manhua platform Tencent. Many fans of the manhua consider it to have an unremarkable start and get interesting when the female MC's backstory is revealed (last two episodes of season 1). After that is a long arc about a tournament where different powered individuals (including some fan favorite characters) and factions are introduced.

When season 1 of the anime came out, manhua fans were not satisfied with it mainly because of subpar art and slow pacing. However, it's also praised for its use of folk music and regional dialects (Sichuanese and Cantonese) which is refreshing. Action sequences in some scenes are not bad either. Regardless of how flawed season 1 was, many people still want a second season.

Haoliner blamed the poor quality of season 1 on failed collaboration with the Japanese studios. In later episodes they even hired a Chinese studio to modify and expand the Chinese version. Hence the last two episodes of the Chinese version last an hour rather than 40 mins and are considered the "unbutchered" version of Baobao's backstory.

I honestly enjoyed this anime. Yes the art was a bit lacking but the story and characters were interesting. Plus I love any girl who can beat the crap out of people in heels. Lmao

I've watched up to episode 8 of season 2 now and I'm enjoying it. I honestly watched the first episode or two of season 1 and dropped it. I then started hearing good things and went back and pushed onward and I'm happy I did.

I really hope the Chinese market continues to improve and put out better and better things. I've enjoyed several so far!

Awesome, I actually like the first season, glad they making a 2nd. These Chinese anime are kinda low-budget but its still better than the majority of ass-shit wish-fulfillment, harem, waifu anime that are popular nowadays.

The MC is kinda annoying but tolerable enough and at least the story itself recognizes some of his flaws so there's potential for character development. Still better than the Marty Stu loser avatar MC who has to fit the taste of the loser audiences from the get go or they can't identify themselves with him and therefore cannot enjoy the show.

I wanted to get into these early. But was put of by the Japanese dub. So waited for a Chinese dub to be uploaded. Since I hate streaming.

The first season was great. The jokes in Chinese really came through. Went back and rewatched in Japanese. so many jokes missing and censored scenes missing scenes.
That said loved the fact that they bothered to dub the folk song.

Season 1 was good took a while to establish what kind of show this would be which is a Martial arts novel set in modern day China. with the usual Taoists, Martial arts and Folklore mixed in.
