 Aniplex opened an official website for an anime film adaptation for Yoru Sumino's Kimi no Suizou wo Tabetai (I Want to Eat Your Pancreas) novel on Monday. The film is set to premiere in 2018. Synopsis One day, I—a high schooler—found a paperback in the hospital. The "Disease Coexistence Journal" was its title. It was a diary that my classmate, Sakura Yamauchi, had written in secret. Inside, it was written that due to her pancreatic disease, her days were numbered. And thus, I coincidentally went from Just-a-Classmate to a Secret-Knowing-Classmate. It was as if I were being drawn to her, who was my polar opposite. However, the world presented the girl that was already suffering from an illness with an equally cruel reality... (Source: MU) Sumino launched the original novel on the Shousetsuka ni Narou website and Futabasha published the series with illustrations by loundraw in a single volume in June 2015. The novel has a cumulative 2 million copies in print. A manga adaptation by Idumi Kirihara was serialized in Monthly Action magazine between August 2016 and May 2017. | This reminds me of A Silent Voice but instead of someone who's deaf it's someone with a life-threatening disease (btw it's pancreatic cancer). I think the feels are going to be much worse than the A Silent Voice... From the PV, the art looks great and the music seems alright too. But the title tho... Going to attempt to read the novel before the film comes out. |

Well, it's not that the anime is very depressing. It's just that it's disappointingly not as good as many people claim it to be. So I hope this one is will be a solid anime. You may have found it disappointing but A Silent Voice has been generally very well received. Different tastes and all that stuff. :) Personally I thought they did an excellent job with A Silent Voice. They pared the story back a bit to remove some of the cruft and finished it in the best place IMHO. The only comment I would make is that Kawai and Mashiba suffered a bit much from the trim but I never found Mashiba that much of an interesting character and yeah Kawai is just a nasty piece of work. |

| Definitely excited about this one. Seems like the art and animation are fine; character designs are on the simpler side but that's understandable. Since people are comparing them, having read the novel (and manga) I daresay this is going to be far superior to Your Name and Koe no Katachi in terms of plot. I hope the anime manages to improve on the less-than-satisfactory manga adaptation on the ending part. |
