When people talk about drugs they are usually referring to weed, cocaine, heroin etc. not really alcohol. Alcohol is only called a drug in the technical sense.

Well I can relate to someone dealing with an addiction even if it's not the exact same addiction I have.

LOL you linked wiki links about actual coloring books and about damnation.

Alcohol is legal. Caffeine can also be considered a drug at a technical level but I don't see people classifying coffee with weed.

I know that I just found it funny that the links literally lead to links about coloring books and damnation. I wouldn't call that mainstream.

Alcohol can be very addictive and people who try to come off of it can face withdrawal symptoms so it isn't something that can easily be stared away from for certain people. Also you have the fact that it's legal and widely available.

or if it's Hamilton. I love Hamilton the Musical. So Lin Manuel Miranda and Daveed Diggs etc.

I agree that it's strange how someone can dislike an entire genre of music when every genre has a billion sub genres. If people dug deep enough they would find something to like about almost every genre.

I hate most rap, but the SoundCloud rapper "Atlas" has become one of my favorite artists. Some of his songs are shit, but some of them really resonate with me.

I've had an increasing interest and appreciation for it in recent years. I really like traditional 'heavy' rap because of the beats, lyricism and attitude. And it's also got a lot of humor and a cultural significance. Korean rap is fire as well but not as raw n' dirty.

I love rap. rap=rythm and poetry
And rap isn't about cars of money.
By example:
One is proud of his atheism
He despises anyone who believes in God
Another thing makes it ugly to make you believe
He could cling to his neck to follow him
One has no force, another is strong
But he refuses the torch, pulling in the darkness
Some are seen to be saved, others are considered to be lost
And they all defend themselves by attacking the other camp
Position in casualties or carnivores
Play roles of suckers or losers
A genius hides a masterpiece
A creton covers you, someone can find it
Some see half a glass
Others naked, his bitter tasting
One is curious, amazing any shit
Another one descends, completely disinterested
Some people lose their way, others make their way
Some disco disco, other libraries
Some want nothing, others want it all
Some are paranoid, others are fast
One makes a hinge, suffers too much
Others do not have the courage to say a word
One is rubbing it all day, another takes two services
Do a heart attack before saying "stop"
Some are lost, others find their vocation
Yes, I did either the methods or the destination
Some have no limits, others are established by others
After other stupid criteria
Yes, prejudices do not go anywhere
It's harder to be better than them, better than yesterday
All animal species are looking for reed profiles
I do not shoot, I have indigestion from indecent things, and everywhere
I would not be stingy, not asking for percentages
By the way, some get to the mattress, others break with a bad hand
What do I do in a hard month of work
Some forget that they have children, others are spoiled
Some people hide them from life, others throw them in front of them
Some forget to smile, others take their life laughing
And I only know how to get it
One has no opinion, another judges everyone
Sharing the world between him and the rest of the idiots
Some listen to someone, others fight without pause
Against anyone, for no reason
Some are neglected and easily commit suicide
Others pay attention only to them
Some have no imagination, others build a world away from civilization
Some are proud, others have no dignity
Some are not ashamed, others have no firmness
Some with thousands of acres of property
Others are frustrated by their mad jokes
Some get marsh, others only trouble
Some do not have rights, others abuse them
Some, like me, raise the tone too high
Others, like you, caress the microphone
Frankly, I do not know exactly what's wrong with us, folks
We choose to react to pressure
With reactions that show fear
You know if life is a test, we'll take a small note
Because some are considered gods, others are believed
You do not behave like yourself and hypocrites like me
What they do not find enough love for themselves is found in rhymes
Now, goodbye!

I used to hate rap, hip-hop or whatever this abomination is called. I've always thought it's just some stupid lyrics by people who can't actually sing. That was of course until I heard Yung Lean (the rap god), PolitikZ (the greatest white rapper of all time) and Jake Paul (social media superstar) for the first time.

Ginseng Strip - a song from my childhood about friendship and why you shouldn't trust women bitcheZ

Real Hip Hop - the song that brought hip hop back

It's every day bro - every time I hear this shit a tear comes from my eye. Really emotional & inspiring. (Also number 1 on iTunes)

Don't take me srsly pls, listen to whatever you like.

I can't listen to much rap, I liked some of eminem's old stuff because it's what I grew up with but outside that I can't listen to straight up rap outside of feat 'x rapper' in pop songs or slow rap like in slow / ambient style remixes.
I barely understand what they're saying half the time, and when I can its mostly they saying nigger, or talking about fucking hoes, killing motherfuckers and getting guns and drugs.

somewhat, but it's very shallow at the end of the day. not that that's a bad thing, but there aren't a lot of rap albums i can go back and listen to frequently.
even lyrically talented people like kendrick can do so much within the constraints and lack of real depth that the genre has, musically speaking.
that's not to mention how fucking unbelievably awful future, lil yachty, rae srummeund-however the fuck you spell it, and mainstream rap has become.
it wasn't that much better in the 90's, because nas, biggie, and 2pac are all really overrated, but atleast in the early to late 00's you had kanye making decent music.

Oh maybe, maybe it's the clothes we wear
The tasteless bracelets and the dye in our hair
Or maybe, maybe it's our nowhere towns or our nothing places
But we're trash, you and me
We're the litter on the breeze
We're the lovers on the streets
Just trash, me and you
It's in everything we do
It's in everything we do

I have found myself well versed into the Metal genre, yet the more I go deeper into the genre the more I find people who are open to liking different genres of music, so I asked, "What type of Hip-Hop/Rap can you give to a Metal dude like me?" the answer? Experimental Hip-Hop/Rap like Death Grips and Clipping. highly appeals to me, the recently released track that Clipping. released for a TV show is pretty DEEP lol (yet I still respect/enjoy artists like Tupac and Tyler the Creator, I'm not crazy about Hip-Hop/Rap since I'm more of a Metal boi, but I hold a deep respect for it and all other forms of music, sadly same can't be said for most of the Metal fanbase RIP)

and I'm not trying to be funny, either. I sadly grew up with that music so I'm well accustomed to it, in addition to hearing some music from the 90s like Nas' Illmatic album and I didn't like it at all. The genre itself is almost on par with screamo in terms of how bad I perceive it to be

I like some rap and hip hop but there's no denying it's one of the weakest genres of music alongside reggae, reggaeton, pop, house etc.

The genre itself doesn't leave much room for creativity, not to say there isn't but most sounds the same as most rap artist follow the same formula and rarely try anything new. Sure there's some great musicians but the majority are plain garbage.

It doesn't help that the genre itself is extremely childish which turns many people away.

Kinda new rap, which I, personally, don't like that much, but there are some exceptions:

Don't like the lyrics(aka. content) , but the beat is hell of a good one.

Classic.

Tech N9ne:

Unique compilation of the fastest rapping artists:

Some tracks of Dr.Dre & MM(SS,EM):

Skip to 2:06 if you want to listen to Eminem spitting fire, literally:

Classic.

NAS (oldschool):

2Pac:

2Pac - Hit 'em up:

Jay-Z:

Kendrick Lamar:

I, also, listen to French Rap, even though, I don't understand every word nor do I manage to speak french, properly, although I'm well aware of the swearing words being used, therefore don't misunderstand myself, please.

Lacrim:

Niska:

MHD:

I, also, listen to German - Rap, although, I don't wanna set that as "Rap", real rap that is.
