Those selfie sticks used to be a thing like 3 years ago. I haven't seen someone walking around with one of those in a long time. On topic: I think I've taken like 3 unironic selfies in my entire lifetime. Two of those had my face covered because I wanted to show off what I was wearing (I don't like having my face in pictures). I don't see many people use selfie sticks nowadays. Their phone does the job well when they need to post a Snap. I did see a lot of these when I traveled in Asia though, especially amongst tourists and solo travels. For the latter, I assume, it gets taxing to keep asking people to take a picture of you and that historic site. |

A "Selfie" is a very inconvenient Camera Perspective that makes one appear weirder on the Photo then they are, which is why I would rather recommend either someone else taking a Picture of you or using the Timer Function and experimenting with the Height, Zoom and other Settings, while also trying different Poses. p0ckyy said: nice Poemnow a days people like self-gratification on social media u can see them take these photos really doesn't feel like gratification to me maybe cause i have low self esteem i dont really care either way especially since it doesn't matter so just let them be selfies poem by p0ckyy |

maybe it's cause i'm asian so i'm used to seeing selfie sticks all the time when i travel there, but i don't see anything wrong w/ them ? it's just a touristy way to take pictures lmao. same with selfies, it's just a picture of yourself / yourself w friends. no big deal. |

So I have this one cosplay in which the guy has a selfie stick. I'm not really a selfie person, but while I was wearing that cosplay, I was the selfie friggen king. Not the second time I wore it though since I was too tired after being in line for 4 hours and 25 minutes-- like, half the time I was in line, I was trying to find the end before I got comfortable enough to be in line while in character. It was like three hours before that even happened and I was way too drained to even want to be in cosplay even. It was an experience to use a selfie stick and take so many selfies-- most blurry. It's actually pretty fun... while in a cosplay of someone who likes to take selfies. I haven't used it out of that particular cosplay. If you like taking pictures of yourself, go ahead and get one. It makes it a lot easier to do and helps get rid of that way-too-close thing that selfies usually get. Like honestly, the selfies I took of that one cosplay turned out really nice even with my crummy phone's camera. My friends even had fun with it-- they hadn't used one either. Also, the drunk selfie vid is terribly sad. Oh my goodness... |

Whoever decided it was socially acceptable to take pictures of yourself while being able to see yourself in the camera anyway? Uncultured swines, this is the reason why the youth of today are corrupted. Turn your phones around like back in the day and experience the thrill of hoping you're in focus far less in the picture at all. Damn millennials. |

I have honestly never ever taken a selfie of myself. I am a photographer. Screw taking pics of myself. I am too busy aiming my camera at other things/people. If I want to know what I look like, I'll go look in a mirror. And frankly, the only other people that need to know what I look like are personal local friends. Online pictures mean nothing, and that will always be the case. People on my social networking profiles often ask why I do not bother with pictures. The reason is simple ... who would believe they are me? No one. No sane person, anyway. This is because so many people out there Google model pictures or people that aren't even them, steal the pictures, and post them as their own. The obvious result is that no picture online can possibly be believable. So unless I see you in person, my assumption is that any impression I have as to what you look like is most likely a lie, anyway. There are, however, plenty of pictures of me around the net taken by fellow photographers who I volunteered to model for. That's as close to a "selfie" as anyone will ever get as far as pictures of me are concerned. |
