Windows Media Player - Home Cinema. Used to be a big fan of VLC but it lags often when streaming high-end bluray stuff.

VLC is probably the best imo. But it's personal preference.

I use Zoomplayer, like the firefox of players, you can tweak or optimize things. VLC always feel kind weird to work with.

I use VLC because it's got a nicer interface, as well as some extra features. It's also open source which is a big reason why it's so awesome, and has so many features.

Also, MPC-HC's last update was just releaced two days ago, which means it'll become obsolote unless someone picks it up.

VLC is still the king of media players, and I've been using it for over a decade now.

MPV and SMPlayer are not bad either, but I still prefer VLC's layout.

I use VLC on both my PC and Android phone, it has many nice features like speeding up the video while keeping the audio from getting squeaky to if you need to speed it up for whatever reason like a extremely slow, boring dialogue scene or something.

Most of the friends use VLC as well.

For mp4s and some mkvs I use the Movies one for Win10 just because I like the clean interface.

When all else fails I just use VLC but I dislike the GUI.

*Gom Player master race* (although, I sometimes also use PotPlayer, which is pretty much like Gom Player). Been using it for playing every kind of video since like 2008. It's lightweight, has intuitive UI and hotkeys, and supports pretty much every video format.

VLC. Never used anything else aside from maybe Windows Media Player.

MPC seems to be the highly appraised choice though. I've just never bothered, have zero issues with VLC.

MPC ceased development though a bit ago. Just a note.

Still works and all, but just don't except future updates.

My primary (default) player is KMPlayer, and I amost never have a problem.
If I do, then as secondary player, I use WMP, and I also have VLC.

I stay updated with the K-Lite Codec Pack (Mega) so all 3 players pretty much play anything out there both video and audio.
You're never too old to watch anime.
If I ever stop watching anime, check my pulse I'm likely dead.

VLC on PC, MX Player on Android.
I used to be a MPC user but I switched to VLC when I started to encounter problems with stylized subtitles.
As to MX player, it's literally the only player that allows me to play most MKV videos without glitches or lag.

MPV is a go-to for anime. Both MPC-HC and VLC have problems with displaying subtitles normally (makes the video lag or doesn't display subtitles at all). If you experience problems with animated subtitles, MPV is a must.
