So I'm sure everyone has seen or even heard of the American cartoons Adventure Time or Rick and Morty. You'd also know that it's like watching a cartoon on Psychedelics because everything is so vivid and creative. Idk about you, but I like watching an animated show with vivid visuals. It's fun to watch. But is there anything like that in anime? The only anime I've seen come close to that creative psychedelic like visualization was One Piece.

Belladonna of Sadness has some sort of "psychedelic" artstyle - I always found that term misappropriate.

MAL has an article about that film, with screenshots and trailer : Belladonna_of_Sadness__Its_Not_Hentai_Its_Art

----------------------
off the topic, but somehow related:
Cowboy Bebop has the episode Mushroom Samba where late-in everyone is on drugs (mushrooms, that iirc. for unknown reasons look a lot like Shiitake), which afaiu. is a rare thing in anime.
It does not reflect in artstyle changing or such, other than the tiniest little bit of distorting the picture when showing Faye's trip.

(and I adore the German episode title : Breiter als das Universum. :D )

If you mean visually psychedelic, No Game No Life had really bright and wild colours going on. It was kind of like a shrooms trip.

Honestly there is no comparison lul, but I get the point you'er trying to get across here. Something gnarly, something abstract and aesthetic.

Paranoia Agent (idfk what I was watching tbh, dropped it early)
1 episode of Samurai Champloo (think it was aiming for a shroom type of episode)
Abenobashi mahou shoutengai (this was a long ass time ago don't quote me on this and i was still a teen.)
Mushishi.... kind of (in that zen... peaceful kind of way.. if that makes any damn sense at all).
Texhnolyze (ambience/perspective is trippy/dark/grim)
FLCL (whacky random imaginations of a 5 year old type of stuff, think kill la kill but without any story goal)
Tatami Galaxy (like reading a book on speed... in japanese..?)

others that had suggested:

NGNL in terms of colors i could see that. super bright colors everywhere
mononoke for sure looks like it would be a show with unique aesthetics and it has some acclaim too on MAL it seems like
Aku no Hana the manga was fucking entertaining didn't watch the show though. One of the better mangas out there.

haha that was fun.

I cant really say whether these are indeed trippy enough since I watched them all(or parts of them) stoned, but they give a much different experience than the other stuff on my list in the same circumstances.

OT: Mononoke, Nekojiru-sou, Madoka and Yuri Kuma Arashi are the best examples i can think of when it comes to "psychedelic". The visuals on all those series are quite vivid and are filled with creativity artstyle.
