not a downer or something like that? so i prefer happy endings.

tragic endings are also fine for me tho but only when the mc is annoying or when that's the best for everyone in the series or the mc loses everything and is planning to take revenge (hinting for a sequel of smth)

If the ending is done well, then I fine with both happy and tragic endings.
I loathe open endings, not giving story a proper conclusion is the worst.

> Solves most of the issues brought up throughout the series
> Doesn't crush other characters just to make some tsundere shit shine in the end
> Is consistent with the rest of the story and developments so far even if it's unexpected
> Has some sort of reasoning/logic behind it and is not something random thrown in only to please a certain group of fans
> Every character gets a fair and proper ending based on whatever role they had in the series. I hate it when a character is put through hell and then receives a bad ending just to give way for some stupid obnoxious selfish arrogant tsundere to be the center of attention.

Anything that ends like Kyou Kara MA no Tsuku Jiyuugyou (manga) deserves a 1/10.

I don't really mind in the end if it was a happy or sad ending, i do however like a twist or something unexpected. Something that makes you think, or has been clues placed throughout to suggest the unexpected ending to really make it worth watching again. I also like endings that let you sorta decide what could happen from there.

I'm more into Happy ends and unexpected ends are also good sometimes. Bittersweet ends are fine too. I don't like open ends that much. Mostly if the Anime doesn't get a sequel.

Something that suits the overall mood of the anime.
A happy ending isn't the best.
An unresolved ending typically gets on my nerves.
An unexpected ending can be either good or bad.

I prefer a happy ending, but I don't have a problem with other types of endings unless I'm watching a romance anime and the characters still haven't received their feelings to each other.

Being so used with my ship being wrecked every time, nowadays I almost always prefer a harem end over a single ship.. ;_;

And speaking of school days, Makoto deserved every bit of that for being a dick tbh.. Left me quite satisfied too..

Well, depends on the anime somewhat. If it's just a going to be like a single season with no plans for continuation I'd prefer a happy ending.

Otherwise, unexcepted ending. Deliver some solid story and clean it up nicely (open ending) for the next season to pop in.

I just hate unfinished endings... Happy/Open/Complete/etc endings I don't have issues with but it urks me when they failed to properly close off the season/story... screw off with the major cliffhangers =/

I prefer a happy ending, especially if the characters have gone through a lot. Bittersweet endings are okay too sometimes, depending on how it's done. However, I absolutely despise unresolved endings, to the point where I'd prefer a tragic ending over an unresolved one.

Most of the times I end up forgeting the ending after a year or so... Maybe, memorable endings then?

I just dislike it when the plot is about solving a problem, and in the end they solve it in the most retarded way possible. Yamada-kun and the Seven Witches is a good example of decent anime with retarded ending.

If the show is really good, I rather see an unresolved ending because that could potentially lead to more seasons. But otherwise I just enjoy happy endings, tragic stuff is not my cup of tea. (Just because i don't like crying)

An ending that makes you think about the show (not in a bad way) or feel some sort of emotion once it's over. That can be accomplished with either a happy or a tragic ending, so whether the ending is happy or sad shouldn't be the main focus.

Though, on another note, an ending I hate more than anything is when they unnaturally force the story to have a happy ending just to appease the viewers. It seems like a lot of writers are afraid of tragic endings because they upset their audience.

What's the difference?

Whatever ending best suits the tone and narrative of the work. It can be happy, sad, bittersweet, open, or whatever else. As long as it fits and flows well (which doesn't preclude unexpected or otherwise creative endings), it's doing its job. I can like endings in any camp.

If I don't like an ending for reasons other than that then I think I'd usually criticize the entire show, like I did with Nausicca. The ending was fitting based on the show's narrative; the problem is that I didn't find the narrative convincing in the first place.

Depends on the show. Some need to end a certain way to make the whole experience worthwhile. While others can be more open to the way it can end or can go either way in terms of a happy or sad ending. Plot twist endings can work, but most of the time don't, because it was made obvious that it was going to happen or was poorly executed through bad storytelling. Although usually the worst ending for me is when there is a problem/scenario at the beginning and by the end of the show, the status quo has stayed the same and everything turned out to be for nothing. Its just very frustrating to watch something and for nothing to actual happen or have no progression, and be the same as it was at the start.

As long as an ending isn't unintentionally unresolved, suites the story and is logical, I don't really care what type of ending it is. It can be happy, it can be tragic, it can be unexpected, all as long as it's good.
