Given it's produced by a Japanese studio (Polygon Pictures) and had a simultaneous US-JP premiere, why isn't it considered an anime? From what I know it's anime enough for the database.

Outsourced animation studio doesn't count. All the most important stuff is done at the American studio like the characters, backgrounds,writing, voices etc so it's an American cartoon not anime. Transformers :Adventure is just the name for the Japanese broadcast of it.
