| I was spoiled for this episode after I watched episode 2... but even knowing that was coming, I did not expect how much it would end up affecting me. ;_; In a way though, his death was required for the show to progress at all. As Heart_of_storm said about me, he was stunting the growth of the others around him. And while the silly crazy antics are good for a little bit, a good anime plot it doesn't make. But.. yeah. ;_; |

| Wow was totally not expecting a major death this early in the show, really surprising. Quite sad really, I'm going to miss hearing "Who the hell do you think I AM!" and all his manly speaches. Will be interesting to see how everything progresses now. |

| Was pretty good. Although, I was a bit distracted and briefly looked away and missed the actual death! Haha. I do like how they defy convention and kill the main character. Nobody will have lines as cool as his manly spirit slogans. But still, Simon will no doubt grow up to be fairly awesome too. |

| Even when rewatching it this episode still pierces my heart. When Simon says they lost something that can't be replaced, he wasn't lying. When I watched this the first time, I wasn't really convinced that Kamina really died. I originally thought that, well, he's Kamina. He'll survive this, right? Even when seeing that he was removed from the intro, I was hoping that they just did that to make the surprise greater when he did return. Unfortunately, I was wrong. |

| This is old now for a ton of people, but my god, I decided to show this series to some friends, sat with them whilst this episode played.....and I still cried my heart out. I actually think I cry more every time, because I know what's coming. Never has an anime affected me that much. Hats off to Gurren Lagann. |

| The phrase "epic BAW" is one that best discribes that episode... And i am not a crier. I'm dead inside, and that episode made me spend the rest of the day in a trance of unhappiness. I had to go to work almost straight after that! Can you imagine how hard it was to act cheerful after that? All emotion aside, it was well made as well. The whole thing felt so... surreal... |
| i was going to stop watching the show up until episode 6...then i saw 8 n i just had to watch it! it was so unsepect it to see kamina die(tear) but maybe it was for the good, if kamina would have lived simon wouldnt have grown to be a leader, he would just be his shadow |
| Well asides from the obvious I got spoiled about his death ages ago. The whole Kamina death thing is probably the hardest spoiler to avoid, so it didn't really effect him me much to seem him die. Still pretty sad though, now I guess it's Simons time to shine. |

| Dang... this is one of the most unforgettable and heartbreaking episodes I've ever watched in an anime. Actually, I was a Kamina fan. And the second reason is that I don't want Yoko to be paired with Simon. |

| That was well-played, because I never expected it to happen. Ever. I never thought Kamina would die in the series. Can't say I'm disappointed though, while he was interesting, I didn't like the character much at all, and I'm glad we won't be seeing him any longer. At least, I hope we won't. Freaking anime never seems to want to kill anyone... At times he'd be cool, and others he'd just be UNBELIEVABLY retarded and annoying, IMO. As long as the show is still able to keep up its over-the-top fights without him, with his passing this might actually move out of the 8/10 range for me. |
