| I've been watching the US release of this series by Funimation. Each episode except the first two has an opening sequence that parodies a classic television series. I've identified some of them, but others I can't quite place: E03 - Star Trek E04 - Star Trek (again) E05 - Mission: Impossible E06 - Charlie's Angels E07 - Bewitched E08 - Starsky & Hutch E09 - ? E10 - ? E11 - Red Dwarf E12 - The Greatest American Hero E13 - I Dream of Jeannie Can anyone identify the missing entries above? (Will edit the post as these are identified) Anyhow, a few things about these lead me to suspect these openings weren't part of the original episodes but were added later for the video release. First, while the audio is new, the video consists entirely or at least mostly of a montage of clips from the main body of the show. Second, would Japanese viewers even pick up on references to American TV shows from the 60s and 70s? (Probably Star Trek, but a couple of the others seem pretty doubtful.) Finally, when checking the episode discussion threads here on this forum for any clues, in which most of the posts date from shortly after the original air date, there is zero mention of these opening sequences. |
