I mean like cried a river all snots and tissues (even sobs)? leaving you a little (or really) depressed?

Do you take your favorite anime/fictional character seriously enough you actually feel very deeply for them (even if you don't want to)?

I cried countless time during my time watching anime, but only twice with sobs. [AoT ep 21-22, binge watched (I have no idea why it made me cried so much even though we barely know anything about them)] and

I've also cried reading manga (only two manga so far, but then again I'm not much of a manga reader. It's Rave when
and Zatch Bell. I don't remember which part but I remembered I cried so much reading it)

I cried reading fanfics and doujins alike and I take my ships very seriously and personally even if I don't want to I can't help it.

There are many times when I really really wanted to stop because it gives me so much pain but it also gives me joy. Probably my main source of joy.

Do I messed up?

I probably should go out more and have a life.

So what about you?

In the beginning only certain themes I fond applicable made me cry.
Nowadays, all the anime exposure has made me extremely empathetic, so I cry all the time and I love it.

this is honestly me

whenever I rewatch Shana, Inu x Boku SS and After Story because I love the characters so much
luckily To Love Ru isn't that much of an emotional series but I did still cry when Nana got her feelings hurt

The end of Assassination Classroom killed me, I usually just get teared up but that shit made me properly cry, there were other times as well but I remember that the most.

YES! The first fictional anime character that made me cry so hard was Light, when he died. I mean I cried when L died too, but Light's death was way worse. I was depressed for weeks.

Yes, in a couple of occasions (Fate/Stay Night ending, by example), but nowadays it's rare for me to cry THAT much over anime.

Yes I cried a lot on the final episode of Madoka Magica, the last 2 episodes of Toradora, the last episode of Shigatsu, and some episodes of Clannad.

I also cried at video games like Final Fantasy IX and X, MGS3 and 4, Zelda Twilight Princess, and recently I cried buckets over the Persona 5 ending. Such a masterpiece of a game that was.

Let's be honest here. I teared up when the show is already over. Some characters satisfied me at the near end

If the level of crying you're talking about includes weeping then no, the max I ever do is silently tear up.

I've honestly never cried for an anime or any other fictional story...
I mean, I appreciate emotive moments but not as much to make me cry

No, I've been dead on the inside for the last 10 years. Everyone has to die eventually so even if they didn't die on the show they will die later on.

Yeah me too. That is one of the thing that makes Gintama amazing.

The funeral scene in FMA 2003 (you know the one I mean) was the first moment in the medium that had me bawling.

As for stuff outside of anime, I finished Buffy the Vampire Slayer fairly recently and the episode
made me shed a tear or two.

One bright day in the middle of the night, two dead boys got up to fight
Back to back they faced each other, drew their swords and shot each other
A deaf policeman heard the noise and came and killed those two dead boys

I love all the Noragami characters so much, so I've cried plenty of times when re-watching the anime and reading the manga. Ending scene in Episode 7 of Noragami Aragoto makes me cry every time I watch it. I love Yato so much and Studio Bones animated the scene perfectly.
Help the industry and buy Blu-rays and DVD's.
Noragami is the best anime ever.

I completed Hoshizora e Kakaru Hashi early in the morning and then slept. When I woke up I cried for 2 hours before I got out of bed because the tsundere character was rejected and I bottled it up before I slept.

I also cried at the end of the Cowboy Bebop not because of the final scene (which was pretty sad but not enough to make me cry), but because of all the emotions that accumulated over the span of 26 episodes being finally released as the show ended.

I've never cried, like sobbed, but I have shed some tears for some anime characters before.

The shows that made me shed tears were:
- Hokuto no Ken
- Tokyo Magnitude 8.0
- and one Leiji Matsumoto anime. I think it was Captain Harlock.

Anyways, not trying to be a contrarian but Clannad After Story and Grave of the Fireflies did not make me cry, though I did find them very sad.

I cried when I watched Koe no Katachi, and when I watched Code Geass.
As for manga, I've let out lots of tears whilst reading One Piece.

I can get teary from watching some shows. I don't think I've ever cried, worse was just the memory of the anime stuck in my head for a couple of weeks. Instead of crying I tend to just loom over it for a week or two and then move on.

Notably
Clannad

5 centimeters per second

Ending of grave of fireflies also got me teary.

Pretty sure I broke down into a fit of hysterical sobbing within 2 minutes of seeing the Berserk characters adapted last year before I proceeded to throw myself off of my roof.

That Hunter X Hunter episode where Gon tried to pay back Hisoka for finding his number, only to then get knocked out by him and then having to explain why he was intimidated by him after getting knocked out to Kurapika.

Seeing Gon cry made me feel a little over-emotional, I'm over it now, though.

I've never cried, though I've gotten pretty emotional watching certain anime. But oddly enough I had a dream that I was crying while watching an anime. So who knows, maybe that dream was foreshadowing my future; I've got to prepare for being less of a man I suppose.

BUT MAMA AIN'T RAISE NO BITCH.... so imma take that cry like a man!

I've cried for a few animes, it's actually a big part of the reason i got so into anime right now. My friend recommended your lie in april and clannad to me, bawled hard after those and got hooked on how good anime is at creating characters you can really get behind.

clannad and after story, your lie in april, angel beats, plastic memories, charlotte, hotarubi no mori e, akatsuki no yona's ova all did it for me. I expect sukasuka from this season might have a sad ending, and i've been saving anohana for a rainy day based on the reviews

Probably half of my 9's and 10's. A few of my 8's have scenes where I've teared up.

Also, it doesn't have to be depressing: a really happy scene will do me in just as well.

Finally, it usually takes a good sound track that perfectly captures the moment.
