| I don't know, really. Even with some shows I consider to be underrated, I can understand their flaws and where the haters come from. Like, I could say Aku no Hana because the first episode was almost unanimously bashed when it came out, but it has become a love-it-or-hate-it kind of show by now and even I had my share of problems with the obvious pretentiousness of its director and the way he handled some of the source material's most tense moments. |

| Acca 13-ku doesn't have that bad of an overall score but a lot of people rate it low because they don't like the slow pacing. But it's actually very good if you like political conspiracies and world building. The newer anime Royal Tutor Kaine has a score on the low side but I actually really enjoyed the humor. |

| I know a lot of people who rate Romeo x Juliet lower than a 7 due to the fact that it is nothing like the book. If you judge the anime as a separate entity, then it's actually a pretty good show. |

| I don't think comedy animes (as long as they are not dramedies) don't deserve bad ratings, since they are just there for you to laugh, enjoy, etc. Popcorn anime. With that said, I also don't think that comedy animes deserve high praising, high ratings, etc. |
| Binbou Shimai Monogatari, Nurse Angel Ririka, and Happy Happy Clover are three anime that have mean scores below 7 and I personally think deserve higher. Obviously there aren't any anime that no one is allowed to rate below 7 because that simply wouldn't make sense. That would just make 7 be equal to 1 with those titles. |

| It doesn't matter much to me on a specific series level, but there are times when I feel people can get really stupid and reactionary about why they rate something low and that can annoy me, much moreso than the inverse. That's usually just more because of presentation than the actual thought, though, since angry hyperbole almost never feels genuine and designed for the sake of getting attention by acting like an angry asshole. It's usually easy to tell when they're being shitposty with that too, though, and that doesn't bother me much. Only when it feels like they're trying to pass that off as something everybody should listen to and respect does it annoy me, but I guess having people who act like that is still preferable to opposite of making pleasantries mandatory, so meh, all of that is still irrelevant in the grand scheme of things. But rambling aside, from a pure rating standpoint it doesn't matter to me at all and from an opinion standpoint it only matters if it's something that can actually apply to me and what I care about, and not somebody just trying to shove their priorities and standards down my throat. |

I would give SAO a very low technical score due to a wide variety of reasons, but I definitely see how and why it is highly rated in comparison to what its content is worth - Unlike Mushishi, SAO has storytelling that does and is meant to appeal to as many viewers as possible, which is its main strength. It's a great watch for younger as well as new watchers, but will reveal its flaws instantly if you watch it twice. As with Mushishi I can clearly see how people can give it a lower score than a technical review would give it, but with SAO I can see even clearer how people can give it a higher score (or a much lower score) than a technical review would give it. |
